iliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog reviewLast month I was invited to attend an exclusive event for the brand NUDESTIX at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.  I was aware of the brand but hadn’t looked into it much prior to going… but I wish I had! This is one very cool makeup brand to look out for. Nudestix is the creation of two young women, Ally and Taylor who amazed me with their professional presentation of their brand and everything it had to offer.  Backed by their supportive mom, Jenny Frankel, a beauty executive and chemical engineer with 20 years experience in creating some of the most notable makeup products we use today (think MAC, Cover FX).

What’s great about the NUDESTIX brand is that it focuses on the nude/natural look, but better. We all can’t bother doing a full face of makeup on the daily and sometimes all you need is a little help here or there to look your best and hit the road for the day.  The entire line is composed of easy to use crayons to do eyes, lips, and face with the tools you already own, your hands!  Each pencil comes with a cute tin that holds a sharpener (something I’m always looking for) and a mirror for easy touch ups. And of course, all colors comes from the neutral, nude, enhanced lip/cheek color family range so many of the colors will work for one person. Many of us kept commenting how many of the colors worked for us, so don’t doubt when you see these in person you going to need more than one!

This was going to end up being a very long post so I will be breaking it up into two posts so you don’t miss a thing!

First, lets take a look at the Sculpting Pencil. I received the medium/deep . With a highlighter on one end and a contour color on the other, you can’t go wrong. Each crayon comes with easy directions to guide you into the world of contouring.  I usually use a little powder bronzer but with this matte-cream stick you can really experiment with your entire face and not just your cheek bones.  I loved using the lighter color on my brow bones and high points of my cheeks and the contour color for the outline of my face, under cheek bones and down the nose.  Below I show you how I used the contouring pencil and just blending with my fingers! This pencil comes in two version: medium/deep or light/medium.

Next, the Lip & Cheek Pencil in two of their most popular colors, Whisper (neutral, peachy nude)  and Mystic (a rosy nude).  This was my absolute favorite product from the entire line. The colors can be worn alone, or together to create a real 3D pouty lip look.  I love that they didn’t suck all the moisture out of my lips leaving them looking peely and dry which is a major issue I have with a lot of lip products and I owe it to the Shea butter, peptides and Vitamin E that conditions while wearing it. It was strange to use a pencil to get some cheek color, but I drew some small circles on my cheeks and blended away with my fingers in the darker color mystic. The results were great, the blendability of these crayons is one of the most notable features of the entire line. There are currently two dual-ended lip & cheek pencils, but they 8 have single colors available as well!

Tomorrow I will post on the Eye Pencils and their new Matte and Blemish Pencil, so stay tuned!

  1. I love how you used all of these. These look fantastic! I actually received a lip nudestix for my birthday a few weeks ago. I’m running to go put it on now!! Looking forward to part 2 of this review. Stacie xo

    • Aren’t they great? I seriously want so many of the colors. definitely need to hit up Sephora and get some more! And they have a moisture pencil that has hyaluronic acid in it to help blur out fine lines. That’s also on my list of items to try!

  2. You look gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to try the highlight /contour technique. It looks easy enough for me to try. Definitely will check out the sculpting pencil. Awesome review.

    • it definitely makes it way easy Anne. Just draw the lines and smudge with your fingers! I’ve tried with liquid foundations and powders before and failed. This is easy peasy!
