I happen to come across a lot of different music that my boyfriend plays in the house. He’s constantly on beatport finding new gems, and I do really mean gems. He has an ear for good beats and sounds that I really like.
It’s funny because I can’t really describe it to people that well. I usually just say some form of house, progressive, or minimal…but I don’t really follow the labeling of it all– I really just like it–and that’s all there is too it. I suppose I’m lucky since I have someone who does the search and makes it easy for me. I do search on my own, but like I said he finds the gems.
Whats even better is when he mixes it up in our dining room and creates a whole new sound. I kinda have my own personal DJ. 😉
This track has been stuck with me all day. We played it in the morning while we were getting ready for work. Just a couple of songs to get us going in the morning. It may start off slow…but just wait. Kinda of uplifting but not in a cheese ball way?
And then there’s the other track that D and I joke about because we love it and it totally speaks to out negative side. D had found this one and was playing it over and over. When I finally came across it myself and listened to the words I couldn’t believe it. We had come across some difficulties int he past year with me leaving jobs for different ones. Tough times sometimes lead to tough
attitudes about life. We laugh about it now, but we would ask ourselves sarcastically the same thing. You can hear it coming up around minute two.
Ok, one last one that keeps me moving in the car. Ha! Now that I’m listening to it again, sigh, love it. I can nod my head, and can begin to sing with it. Some songs you just feel–can you relate?
if consciousness i universal
then why i am wide awake wondering what to say
we are in a parallel dimension
lost in the spiritual changing into physical
go back, no i cant, go back
Is there music that you listen to that really speaks to you? D and I go out to see people play sometimes and can just stand there listening to the beats. I used to be the first one on the dance floor twirling around, but I guess that’s changed a little now.
