Renew Your Skin with Sugar Cookie Marini Holiday Exfoliator

marini holiday exfoliator sugar cookie review by iliketotalkblogAs someone in my mid-thirties, I really have focused in on what I’m using in the skincare department. My major concerns are that I have fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and breakouts from time to time. To make my skin feel it’s best, it’s important that I cleanse at least twice a day, exfoliate, treat and moisturize. Exfoliation being a very important step for my skin as I’ve been reminded to exfoliate often so that the rest of my products are effective.

The Sugar Cookie Marini Holiday Exfoliator is a limited edition facial scrub and it just landed on my doorstep last week. Limited edition, hence the holiday scent, sugar cookie. What’s different about this one from others I have used is that it uses both chemical and physical exfoliators to polish and renew the skin. By using proteolytic enzymes from papaya and pineapple, glycolic acid, and physical exfoliators like sugar, Jan Marini designed a face scrub that not only softens the skin, but treats it with a dimethicone based skin protectant to leave it smooth.

I like a face scrub with a good amount of grit or texture to it — which is not exactly what you should be looking for, but I found this one to have a good amount that I am pleased with. While there is a warning that there may be a slight tingle, I didn’t get that at all — just skin that was SUPER smooth to the touch. It’s a shame this is limited edition because I love anything that involves a sugar cookie. While the scent is quite faint and makes me think of snickerdoodle more, the exfoliating power is the opposite. A little goes a long way on a wet face, and I’ll be trying to stretch this out this tub as long as possible. I’ve only used this a handful of times but I can say that I’ve gotten no irritation, and can feel a difference in my skin right after using.

marini holiday exfoliator sugar cookie review by iliketotalkblogI only wish I still had the other fabulous products I’ve tried from Jan Marini such as the C-Esta Serum and the Hyla3D HA Activating Complex. I used everything to the last tiny drop!  I find all Jan Marini products that I’ve tried, to be very effective so I trust this brand.

Nourish Your Hair With BRÖÖ

review of broo by iliketotalkblogAs a beauty blogger, I am very lucky to come across tons of new products each day and try to test as many as I can — mostly out of my own curiosity, and sometimes because you guys will ask my opinion on something! When I was approached to try out BRÖÖ I was instantly intrigued as it had a very unique base to its product line — BEER! Say what? Yep. Beer. Well why on earth would I want to use beer on my hair or skin? Turns out it has some great components to it that can nourish and improve the hair and skin without the worry of questionable chemicals or ingredients that you can’t pronounce.

Who knew that malted barley and hops could be SO good for the hair with its B vitamins, proteins, minerals and antioxidants that cleanse, repair and strengthen your mane! In addition to that, BRÖÖ includes their natural alternative to silicones, BRÖÖluxe which further enhances the glossiness which I’m all about! Bring on that shine!

review of broo by iliketotalkblogBRÖÖ covers all showering bases with their hair care and grooming line and does it without including ingredients that make us run the other way! Not only is it vegan and cruelty free, but it forgoes the use of sulfates which can be extremely drying to the hair and skin, along with no parabens, phthalates, silicones or artificial fragrance or preservatives! As a mom, I’ve become even more vigilant in choosing which products end up in our bathroom since my toddler will be around them on a daily basis.

While BRÖÖ has a grooming line that can be used by both men and women, I choose to try out their hair products since I like to switch things up often. I have color treated hair that I try to baby as much as possible to stretch out those touch up appointments, and lucky for me ALL of their shampoos and conditioners are color-safe! Hallelujah! I initially had only planned to try their thickening line, but was sent all three of their options and decided I might as well try them all since I had them on hand!

BRÖÖ Invigorating Shampoo and Conditioner If you love minty, cooling shampoos and conditioners then THIS is for you. Talk about a tingle! This is the set I reached for after a sweaty bootcamp session and it’s a real pick me up! I also had to STEAL these back from my husband because he’s all about that pepperminty coolness.

BRÖÖ Moisturizing Shampoo and ConditionerDefinitely a great choice for those of us that have dry or damaged hair since it has Shea Butter in it. It also has a great unisex scent that I loved and my husband wasn’t opposed to! My hair is a bit fine for this formula, but is great to put into rotation every once in awhile for a deep moisturizing treatment.

BRÖÖ Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner I had a feeling this would be my favorite and it was confirmed with first use! First off, the scent is my favorite — a mix of vanilla and orange, and second my ponytail did feel a big thicker and fuller after use! Somehow, barley protein pumps up that hair and gives it that extra oompf us fine hair people crave.

I find each line useful in my household! I like using all three while my husband gravitates toward the invigorating line. I may get him the grooming set which has a multi-use wash, a shave cream and lotion. Sometimes the hubby likes a surprise gift left in his shower to try out.

You can find BRÖÖ nationwide at Walmart stores, Walmart.com. And for a affordable price (under $8 which I consider a steal)!!! To find out more about BRÖÖ, you can visit their website or give them a follow on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

P.S Beauties, I’ll be hosting a giveaway with BRÖÖ on my Instagram for a chance to win ALL THREE LINES – so make sure you are following me to get in on it!

Coola Mineral LipLux

Coola Suncare Mineral LipLux Review and Swatches by iliketotalkblogIt doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, I always feel like I need something on my lips. And being that I live near the beach and the sun it always shining on us, I like to keep my lips protected when I can. Lately, I’ve been reaching for Coola Mineral LipLux and only wish I had more!

Coola’s line of luxury sun and skincare products are cruelty free, and made using organic ingredients whenever possible. Not only that, they try to use locally sourced and sustainable ingredients to stay as environmentally-friendly as possible while still producing some of the very best sun protection out there today.

The Coola Mineral LipLux line has six shades of slightly tinted lip protection that offer SPF 30 broad spectrum protection. Instead of using chemical sunscreens, these use physical sunscreens like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide . The formula features over 70% organic ingredients and has the ability to soften and smooth the lips while fending off the harmful rays of the sun. I love a good lip product that’s packed with healthy butters and LipLux fits the bill with an ingredient list that includes organic Shea butter, organic Coconut oil, organic Cupuacu butter and organic Mongongo butter.

My daughter is at an age where she wants to do everything I do, so when mama puts on lip balm, little Zoe needs some too. Then we both smack our lips together to make sure it’s on, haha. It’s much cuter when she does it than when I do it. Because the color is very minimal, I don’t mind and like that we have this fun little thing we do together.

Nude Beach is the perfect “your lips but better” with a slight shade of soft pink. It imparts just enough color for me to feel put together with a little bit of foundation or tinted moisturizer and mascara. While the description on the website says this has a caramel flavor to it, I’d say it is very light and has a subtle sweetness to it.

Skinny Dip is a sheer nude – like, super sheer nude. I’d have to say after doing some googling that it must be the lightest color of the bunch and gives the lips a soft, healthy sheen. Skinny dip is said to have an Earl Gray Tea flavor which I also find to be very light and unobtrusive to those with super sensitive noses.

You do still need to reapply often as they aren’t like a long-lasting lipstick – but honestly who doesn’t mind swiping on a smoothing lip treatment several times a day. I’ll swipe all day long!

I definitely think that I might have to add a couple more colors to my collection since I enjoy them so much, like Summer Crush (a deep pink) and Tan line (a coral shade).

Each tube retails for $18 and can be purchased online directly from the Coola website or through ULTA. To find out more about how awesome the brand Coola is, you can visit their Facebook or Instagram page and drool over their products with me!
