Original Sprout Baby Products Review

Original Sprout Baby Products review by iliketotalkblog

Thank you to 17th St Beauty Supply for gifting me these products!

Naturally, because I’m a beauty product fanatic I spend extra time seeking out things my baby can use that will be healthy, gentle and effective. My daughter has fine hair, and semi-sensitive skin that requires nourishing products to keep her hair and skin baby soft and comfortable, so when I was gifted a few products from Original Sprout I was excited to see how they would work for her. My biggest concerns for her are: would it help with dry patches? Would it cause breakouts, and would it leave her fine hair greasy or heavy.

Original Sprout review by iliketotalkblogOriginal Sprout specializes in producing an entire line of products that are vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without questionable parabens, nanoparticles, sulfates or propylene glycol.  In addition to that, they steer clear of potential allergy inducing and hormone disrupting ingredients like lavender, tea tree, gluten, soy or dairy components, and made for both children and adults to enjoy.

My daughter takes 3-4 baths a week. I don’t like to over do it, but always make sure she gets a bath after her swim classes to rinse off any chlorine from the pool . She doesn’t need lots of suds, and quite frankly, she’ll try to eat them if they’re there, so I appreciate a formula that isn’t TOO bubbly.

Original Sprout hair and body wash review by iliketotalkblog

The Hair & Body Babywash is delicately scented and comes in a flip top tube so you can easily use it one-handed while handling a baby in the bathtub. We haven’t had any issues with wash getting into her eyes, but I’m relieved to know it’s a super gentle formula just in case some gets on her face. Not all baby products are tear-free, did you know that?  I love a two in one product like this since I keep her bathcare products right at our kitchen sink. It just makes things easier.

Original Sprout deep conditioner review by iliketotalkblog

I love a good hair conditioner but wasn’t sure my baby needed one, I mean she doesn’t have long hair and “deep conditioner” sounded like it might be a bit heavy for someone with barely any hair. But Original Sprout’s Deep Conditioner made Zoe’s hair even softer than it normally is, and rinsed away easily. I kind of feel this is a special treat product to use–not every time, but every once in a while. I think it’ll be great when her hair gets longer and we have to worry about tangles and perfecting a smooth ponytail.

Original Sprout scrumptious baby cream review by iliketotalkblog

After every bath we cover her head to toe with a body cream and Original Sprout’s Scrumptious Baby Cream was a hit in our home.  It’s the perfect time for me to give her little legs, feet and back a mini massage while keeping her skin perfectly moisturized. It smells nice, is non-greasy, and contains soothing zinc and calendula to keep her skin happy. I also learned their formula uses rosemary which helps repel insects naturally which is an added bonus.

Original Sprout natural styling balm review by iliketotalkblog

And for those days when we want her hair (or mine) to look extra good we use a dab of their Natural Styling Balm which helps hold hair in place without a sticky or crunchy feel. I love to do a side part on her hair and comb her bangs to the side. So little is needed to keep that freshly combed look and helps hold my whispies back when I wear a mom bun.

Original Sprout face and body sunscreen review by iliketotalkblogAnd while Summer just came to an end, I do live on the California coast so we pretty much still have bright sunny days that still require sunscreen. Original Sprout Face & Body SPF 27 Sunscreen worked great for both Zoe and I. I can’t stand sunscreen that you “feel” on, and thick sunscreens are difficult to put on a wiggly baby. This one spread easily and rubbed in quickly. The formula relies on Zinc for protection, and didn’t cause any breakouts for me which is a big bonus that both mommy and daughter can use.

Original Sprout review by iliketotalkblogWould I buy Original Sprout after these gifts are gone? Absolutely! In fact, I have my eye on their new Protein Hair Mist and Some other shampoo and conditioner for myself.  Everything smelled very nice and left my baby’s hair and skin nice and soft.

correxiko review by iliketotalkblogiliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog review

As someone who enjoys looking for ways to improve my health, I am constantly on the hunt for products that will help me hit my goals and make me feel good. I love working out, yes, really, and with that, means making sure I have the proper nutrition to keep my wheels greased and ready to go.  Lately, Correxiko has been a go to brand that I’ve been using for my postpartum getting in shape journey and I’m here to tell you about the two products that have made way into my daily routine for the past couple weeks.

Correxiko specializes in overall wellness products ranging from superfoods, vitamins, supplements and protein powders that are utilizes clean ingredients, minus non-nutritious binders, fillers and preservatives.  Basically, you’re getting the good stuff in one of it’s cleanest and convenient forms possible.  You can often find a lot of the vitamins, minerals and macro-nutrients you need in fresh foods we eat, but sometimes we look for a little added boost and that’s where Correxiko can help.

One product I decided to try was “The One” Protein Powder. It’s a plant-based protein powder that offers 24g of protein per serving, which is comparable to the other whey based protein powders I have at home. It’s also gluten, soy, and GMO free in case those are things you are trying to avoid. Because of it’s high level of BCAA’s, it’s great for muscle recovery and repair. One bonus benefit of this powder is it’s lack of added ingredients to bulk the product up, is that it comes unsweetened making it a versatile ingredient for shakes, protein pancakes, power balls, and mug cakes. I chose to try different protein shakes with this powder and made a couple of delicious options you see below.  My favorite was the frozen dark chocolate banana one, but my pina colada shake was pretty delicious as well!  These were a great treat post-workout or when I wanted to have a healthy treat.

I’ve also been using
Correxiko’s Flaxseed Powder in my shakes and morning bowls of oatmeal.  Flaxseed has a multitude of benefits, like being a good source of fiber, works as an anti-inflammatory by serving as a source of two vital essential fatty acids, EPA and DPA. Flaxseed is also thought to promote a healthy milk supply for breastfeeding mamas. It also is a source of LNA which helps produce DHA, a crucial component found in breastmilk that promotes healthy brain function of your feeding babe. I usually add a teaspoon to my oatmeal and you don’t even notice it.  It does add some texture to a shake but nothing bad or intolerable. It doesn’t change the taste of anything at all, and is a really healthful addition to the foods you eat.

I’ve really enjoyed the products I’ve sampled from Correxiko and could see myself using a few more like the Kale powder and Spirulina. I’d also like to use the lightening supplement but will wait to try anything else until after I’m done breastfeeding.

Nail Butter : Your Solution To The Perfect Manicure

Getting The Perfect Manicure

When I first started blogging I mostly did nail swatches.  I wasn’t a pro at makeup photos and could never quite capture the images I needed for blog-worthy posts, but I WAS good at nail photos. Since then, my collection of nail polishes grew ten-fold from a handful of office tasteful pinks and nudes to every shade in the rainbow! In fact, I had way too many and had to downsize and just gave a bunch away to my girlfriends because ya know….I eventually will buy more and I’ll need the space to fill up all over again!

But over time, I have tried many different cuticle treatments to get the perfect healthy manicure look. Oils, wipe off creams, leave-on treatments, and the good ol’ nipping of the cuticles when everything else fails. It was only recently I was invited to try out Nail Butter and I have now found my holy grail for achieving the perfect manicure. It has been my newest go-to item when it’s time to do my nails because it smells SO good and works amazingly well.

This wonderous little jar of magic has simple but skin nourishing ingredients that soften  your cuticles and keep them from snagging. The all-natural blend of essential oils, lanolin, beeswax, mustard oils and vegetable oils soak into the skin and give it a healthy sheen immediately.  As the instructions say, you should apply this treatment twice a day for the first 30 days and then you can start using once a day to maintain. I’m a bit forgetful at applying anything to my nails once a day, let alone twice a day, but I did manage to get in a good two weeks of twice a day rub ins.  All I can say is WOW.  Proof is in the puddin’ ladies!  If you want your nails to shine, then take care of them cuticles as best you can!

The creamy treatment needs to be kept in a cool, dry place or it will look a little melt-y in the jar–which doesn’t affect its efficacy – but good to note.  When my butter arrived it was sitting in a hot mailbox for a few hours so I stuck it in the fridge and fixed that problem pronto.  Since then I keep it with my other nail products and sometimes leave it by my kitchen sink to apply after washing dishes.

Nail Butter is cruelty-free and comes in two versions, Gardenia and Lemongrass.  I’m a total sucker for Gardenia but was sent Lemongrass (their newest version) which is a very uplifting, fresh scent. Once I finish this tub I intend to purchase the Gardenia since most of my fragrances have Gardenia in them. (Gardenia is a white floral, tropical type scent).

At $24 a tub this tub will last you a very long time. So little is needed for 10 nails at a time that you’ll be happy to know you invested in a long-lasting product. To find out more about Nail Butter or be swooned by photos of amazing manicures you MUST check out their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram…you will not be disappointed.
