Nudestix Brow Stylus and Brow Wax

Nudestix Brow Stylus and Brow Wax review by iliketotalkblogiliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog review

I feel pretty lucky to bring you a sneak peek of what will SOON be available from Nudestix, the cruelty free makeup brand that makes makeup incredibly easy for all of us.  When I got the email asking if I would like to try out their new brow stylus and brow wax pencils, it didn’t take me more than a few seconds to respond with a big fat yes. And as someone who has very thin, almost bald brows, I could use any help I can in the brow department.

Nudestix Brow Stylus review by iliketotalkblog

The Nudestix Eyebrow Stylus is a retractable pencil type with a triangle tip that allows for thick or thin strokes.  And surprise, it’s also a two-in-one because it also includes a clear brow gel to lock your brows into place after you’ve filled and shaped them. Waterproof, and available in four different shades (blonde, dirty blonde, brown, and brown/black) , I guarantee you’ll find one that works for your brows. It will soon be available via Sephora or beautylish for $24 each.

The Nudestix Brow Wax comes in one color, clear to set your brows into shape, whether you want sleek and arched or as Nudestix says lovely Cara’s (im)perfect brow style.  Even those of you out there with thick and unruly brows can use this to seal those bad boys into place.  As with all Nudestix pencils, it arrives in a classic mirrored tin case, along with a pencil sharpener. This also retails for $24 each.

Nudestix Brow wax review by iliketotalkblog

Since pregnancy hit, I’ve taken a few steps back in the beauty upkeep department. Not gonna lie…by the time I got this email to try these out, it was time for some serious brow grooming since my focus has been on the horrible pregnancy acne that I’ve been dealing with over the past 4 months. So when the stylus and pencils arrived I got my clean spoolie, brow scissors, and tweezers out for a little reshaping. I have very fine, almost bald brows, but the hairs are long and need a bit a trimming to help create the arch shape you get from tweezing. If you haven’t used scissors before and find that getting an arch is difficult, you should try them out. It really helps! I didn’t start using them until my 30’s! Just use your spoolie to brush all the brow hairs straight up and trim along the edge of the natural brow, and repeat by brushing straight down. You will totally notice a difference.

After some basic shaping, I pulled out the Nudestix Eyebrow Stylus in dirty blond and started with almost “outlining” my brows to define the shape I wanted a bit more. I took the thin flat edge of the pencil drawing a line on both the bottom edge and top edge. I then took the thicker flat edge to fill in my shape with a few short upward strokes closer to the inner corners. I then take a clean spoolie and brush upward and downward to slightly soften the look and sealed with the brow gel at the other end of the stylus.

One tip with the brow gel is to wipe off the extra gel (I didn’t the first time) and touched my brows later in the afternoon to feel a crunchy brow!  Just a teensy amount will go along way. There wasn’t even a ton on the spoolie but I clearly forgot this step and felt the crunch.

If you are someone who doesn’t need to fill your bald or sparse brows with pencil, and just need a little help with reshaping, the Nudestix brow wax will definitely be a go to item for you. I will always need to fill my brows so I opted to use this over the stylus and without the gel–I personally don’t think you need to use both at the same time.  I do have some brow hairs that don’t cooperate and love to go in a completely wacky direction no matter what I do, and this wax help tame them into place.

I’m totally loving the stylus pencil, the thick and thin tip makes doing my brows much quicker than with powder and a brush and the color blended perfectly with my own.  The tins all their products arrive in work great for purses, overnight bags and travel instead of big bulky (and dirty) bags being squashed by whatever else in your bag.  Both the stylus and wax are going to be released in October so stay tuned for their store release in just over a week!  To find out more about Nudestix, you can visit them on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter!

NUDESTIX review part 2: Eye Pencils and Matte & Blemish Stick

iliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog reviewYesterday I introduced you to the brand NUDESTIX and their awesome line of makeup crayons for eyes, lips and face. Today we get to look at the Eye Pencils and the Matte & Blemish Stick– a skin perfector for us with oily skin!

I also got to try some of their eye products. Their Magnetic Eye Color in Lillith (a gold tone shimmer) and Their regular eye pencil in Smoke (a light smoky color that has a bit of gold sheen to it) Their magnetic eye color seriously does not budge until you want it to. We all did a test with their darkest colors at the event and the proof was in the puddin’. No smears…unless you want it to–but you have to move quick!  The Smoke eye pencil comes with an attached smudger so you can either line you eyes with a clean line, or smudge into a smoky eye. I’ve been wearing Lillith across the entire lid and then use Smoke to line the eyes. Haven’t experimented with the smudger yet but plan to!

Magnetic Eye color comes in 8 colors while their traditional eye pencil comes in 8 colors as well.

The last product I received was their Matte + Blemish Pencil, a crayon to be used on the no-foundation face to soak up excess oil and blur out unsightly blemishes.  The crayon uses amazonian clay to mattify our oily T-zones or in my case, entire forehead!  It also contains salicylic acid to treat pimples so win-win here!  The crayon looks green but goes on completely clear and really does mattify.  Since I arrived with an oily forehead they tested it on half of my face and all who saw agreed–it did the job!  This pencil is one of their newer products along with their moisture stick, cleanup stick and blur stick.  None of these have color but help to minimize fine lines, moisturize dry areas and clean up little mistakes we make when we have a heavy hand.

I am totally in love with this brand!  With just four pencils I get an entire face done and can go about my business feeling confident without an overly done look.  There are many more products I’d like to try from them, one being their concealer pencils since liquid concealers don’t seem to work well for me and a pencil can really focus on those specific areas without getting crazy. Their mascara also looks pretty good because I always look for a lengthening version and theirs also enhances growth.

NUDESTIX Review Part 1 : Sculpting Pencil and Lip & Cheek Pencil

nudestix sculpting pencil lip and cheek pencil iliketotalkalot

iliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog reviewLast month I was invited to attend an exclusive event for the brand NUDESTIX at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.  I was aware of the brand but hadn’t looked into it much prior to going… but I wish I had! This is one very cool makeup brand to look out for. Nudestix is the creation of two young women, Ally and Taylor who amazed me with their professional presentation of their brand and everything it had to offer.  Backed by their supportive mom, Jenny Frankel, a beauty executive and chemical engineer with 20 years experience in creating some of the most notable makeup products we use today (think MAC, Cover FX).

What’s great about the NUDESTIX brand is that it focuses on the nude/natural look, but better. We all can’t bother doing a full face of makeup on the daily and sometimes all you need is a little help here or there to look your best and hit the road for the day.  The entire line is composed of easy to use crayons to do eyes, lips, and face with the tools you already own, your hands!  Each pencil comes with a cute tin that holds a sharpener (something I’m always looking for) and a mirror for easy touch ups. And of course, all colors comes from the neutral, nude, enhanced lip/cheek color family range so many of the colors will work for one person. Many of us kept commenting how many of the colors worked for us, so don’t doubt when you see these in person you going to need more than one!

This was going to end up being a very long post so I will be breaking it up into two posts so you don’t miss a thing!

First, lets take a look at the Sculpting Pencil. I received the medium/deep . With a highlighter on one end and a contour color on the other, you can’t go wrong. Each crayon comes with easy directions to guide you into the world of contouring.  I usually use a little powder bronzer but with this matte-cream stick you can really experiment with your entire face and not just your cheek bones.  I loved using the lighter color on my brow bones and high points of my cheeks and the contour color for the outline of my face, under cheek bones and down the nose.  Below I show you how I used the contouring pencil and just blending with my fingers! This pencil comes in two version: medium/deep or light/medium.

Next, the Lip & Cheek Pencil in two of their most popular colors, Whisper (neutral, peachy nude)  and Mystic (a rosy nude).  This was my absolute favorite product from the entire line. The colors can be worn alone, or together to create a real 3D pouty lip look.  I love that they didn’t suck all the moisture out of my lips leaving them looking peely and dry which is a major issue I have with a lot of lip products and I owe it to the Shea butter, peptides and Vitamin E that conditions while wearing it. It was strange to use a pencil to get some cheek color, but I drew some small circles on my cheeks and blended away with my fingers in the darker color mystic. The results were great, the blendability of these crayons is one of the most notable features of the entire line. There are currently two dual-ended lip & cheek pencils, but they 8 have single colors available as well!

Tomorrow I will post on the Eye Pencils and their new Matte and Blemish Pencil, so stay tuned!
