Nourish Your Hair With BRÖÖ

review of broo by iliketotalkblogAs a beauty blogger, I am very lucky to come across tons of new products each day and try to test as many as I can — mostly out of my own curiosity, and sometimes because you guys will ask my opinion on something! When I was approached to try out BRÖÖ I was instantly intrigued as it had a very unique base to its product line — BEER! Say what? Yep. Beer. Well why on earth would I want to use beer on my hair or skin? Turns out it has some great components to it that can nourish and improve the hair and skin without the worry of questionable chemicals or ingredients that you can’t pronounce.

Who knew that malted barley and hops could be SO good for the hair with its B vitamins, proteins, minerals and antioxidants that cleanse, repair and strengthen your mane! In addition to that, BRÖÖ includes their natural alternative to silicones, BRÖÖluxe which further enhances the glossiness which I’m all about! Bring on that shine!

review of broo by iliketotalkblogBRÖÖ covers all showering bases with their hair care and grooming line and does it without including ingredients that make us run the other way! Not only is it vegan and cruelty free, but it forgoes the use of sulfates which can be extremely drying to the hair and skin, along with no parabens, phthalates, silicones or artificial fragrance or preservatives! As a mom, I’ve become even more vigilant in choosing which products end up in our bathroom since my toddler will be around them on a daily basis.

While BRÖÖ has a grooming line that can be used by both men and women, I choose to try out their hair products since I like to switch things up often. I have color treated hair that I try to baby as much as possible to stretch out those touch up appointments, and lucky for me ALL of their shampoos and conditioners are color-safe! Hallelujah! I initially had only planned to try their thickening line, but was sent all three of their options and decided I might as well try them all since I had them on hand!

BRÖÖ Invigorating Shampoo and Conditioner If you love minty, cooling shampoos and conditioners then THIS is for you. Talk about a tingle! This is the set I reached for after a sweaty bootcamp session and it’s a real pick me up! I also had to STEAL these back from my husband because he’s all about that pepperminty coolness.

BRÖÖ Moisturizing Shampoo and ConditionerDefinitely a great choice for those of us that have dry or damaged hair since it has Shea Butter in it. It also has a great unisex scent that I loved and my husband wasn’t opposed to! My hair is a bit fine for this formula, but is great to put into rotation every once in awhile for a deep moisturizing treatment.

BRÖÖ Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner I had a feeling this would be my favorite and it was confirmed with first use! First off, the scent is my favorite — a mix of vanilla and orange, and second my ponytail did feel a big thicker and fuller after use! Somehow, barley protein pumps up that hair and gives it that extra oompf us fine hair people crave.

I find each line useful in my household! I like using all three while my husband gravitates toward the invigorating line. I may get him the grooming set which has a multi-use wash, a shave cream and lotion. Sometimes the hubby likes a surprise gift left in his shower to try out.

You can find BRÖÖ nationwide at Walmart stores, Walmart.com. And for a affordable price (under $8 which I consider a steal)!!! To find out more about BRÖÖ, you can visit their website or give them a follow on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

P.S Beauties, I’ll be hosting a giveaway with BRÖÖ on my Instagram for a chance to win ALL THREE LINES – so make sure you are following me to get in on it!

Get Clean With Plaine Products

Plaine Products review by iliketotalkblogEnvironmentally safe, cruelty free products

Have you ever taken a look around your bathroom and realized how many products you had that were housed in plastic? The creators of Plaine Products did, and set out to change the way people live by creating a line of natural bath products using sustainable packaging. Environmentally friendly products that are not only cruelty-free and vegan, but made to be effective and biodegradable so it stays safe for the environment.

I was sent their body wash, shampoo and conditioner to try. I was happy to hear that not only was it color-safe for my newly colored hair, but also kid safe since my daughter takes baths at the same time and would be around any products that I use.

The formulas are made with a base of organic aloe vera juice that contains vitamins and 8-essential amino acids to keep hair and skin looking and feeling it’s best. All of the products are naturally scented with rosemary, mint and vanilla which blossoms in the shower. I wasn’t sure what that combo would smell like but overall it smells quite minty and I love it. The scent even lingers well after the shower which I enjoy.

What’s really cool about the brand is the fact that the bottles are actually aluminum refillable/reusable bottles. The bottles are large and will last for quite a while and are sturdy so they can take a beating if they fall over in the shower — just watch your foot, haha. Aluminum was chosen because it’s easy to make reusable by sterilization and strong enough for multiple uses. It’s also a material that can be completely recycled without a loss of quality and less energy needed to make that happen!

So what happens when you finally finish up your bottles? You can ship them back in the eco-friendly packaging they sent you the bottles in (remember to rinse them out and replace the original caps the bottles came with) and Plaine Products will take care of the rest!

Plaine Products review by iliketotalkblogHow long will the bottles last you? I did mention earlier that the bottles are pretty large. I’d say they were on the large economy size you’d normally see with big, cheap bottles of shampoo or body wash, but just made with aluminum. The company says they should last you anywhere from two to four months. They also have travel size aluminum bottles which is helpful and will fit in a toiletry bag much better!

I was really surprised by the quality of the shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I was a bit nervous that the quality would be all in the packaging and not in the actual product but there was a lot of attention to detail put into every aspect of the brand. The shampoo suds very well, smells great and doesn’t strip my hair. The conditioner leaves my color processed hair feeling silky and rinses away easily and the body wash produces a nice lather that leaves my skin feeling moisturized. The pumps on the bottles work well, the packaging that the products were ship in are sturdy and the products look nice over all!

Love Craft Soap Co.

Cruelty-Free, Vegan Bath and Body Care

Being a writer for the cruelty-free beauty blog, My Beauty Bunny, I come across a lot of brands while doing research for my articles.  A lot of time is spent on Instagram going through hashtags discovering new brands and their unique products.  It was there that I came across the California based company, Love Craft Soap Co., a small business that specializes in handcrafted cruelty-free, vegan bath and body products.

The founder Shaunna created Love Craft Soap Co. in 2012 after finding a personal need to use gentle but effective bath care products for her son and his delicate skin.  Many commercial soaps either proved to be too harsh, filled with chemicals or simply had a vanity “eco” labeling that did nothing for her son. It was time for her to take matters into her own hands and create products that would nourish and cleanse the skin while giving her peace of mind.

Shaunna was nice enough to send me out a handful of samples to try, and was most pleased that she sent me something for acneic skin.  She had noticed on my instagram that I was trying several different products to help heal my skin and suggested that her Charcoal Facial Bar would be just the thing to try!  Along with that, she sent me some hand/body bars:  Love Spell (type), Perk Up, Beach Blanket Bimbo, and a sample of her soon to be released Citrus French Clay mask.

The Rejuvenating Rose Charcoal Facial Bar was the first item I tried.  I was a bit hesitant as it was a bar soap and I haven’t used a bar soap on my face in ages, but I am very interested in charcoal based skincare products and their detoxification properties. First, I should note that this is definitely a soap you can display next to your sink.  It has bits of rose petals that make it so pretty and don’t interfere with using the soap!  It is also made with a 5 clay mixture and essential oils (like tea tree oil) that tone the skin and help draw out impurities that cause those pesky pimples. The bar was a good size to roll between my hands and produce a good lather.  I used this soap with my Soniclear for a good deep down cleansing. After rinsing clean I found that my skin felt SUPER soft and very clean. I followed with a simple moisturizer to balance my skin out. There was no irritation, no dryness, just soft, clean skin. This soap is PERFECT for my husband who has oily skin and I immediately suggested he try it out since he is always hoping I can suggest something to keep his pores tight and clean. Because my skin is combination, I found that using this just a few times a week served me well, and someone with oilier skin could use more often.

love craft soap co perk up review by iliketotalkblog

The Perk Up Soap is one of their top sellers. The blend of lemongrass and tea tea oil smells amazing and mixed into a olive oil based soap to moisturize, cleanse and awaken the skin.  Teesy apricot kernels pepper the soap to gently exfoliate too! Out of all three body bars, this scent was my favorite. A perfect addition to your guest bathroom or morning shower!

Next up, Beach Blanket Bimbo. haha! Such a cute name, which would make me think it’s for women, but it’s actually a unisex scent that can be left in the shower for anyone in the family to use! Finely ground pumice make this a great gentle exfoliator for rough spots while pink himalayan salt has detoxification properties and contains trace minerals that nourish the skin. The soap has a clean scent to it, that makes me think of sun-bleached driftwood, and sea air. It’s beautiful.

Lastly, Love Spell (type) soap is the most feminine out of the bunch. The blend of jasmine, cherry blossom, peach and orange balance each other out for a beautiful scent that blooms when lathered. The base of this soap also is made with olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil to moisturize and nourish the skin.

Each of the Love Craft Soap Co. products I tried lathered wonderfully and did not dry out my skin.  Shaunna did a wonderful job fragrancing each product that makes you keep sniffing the bars and wanting more. All of her products are cruelty-free, vegan and handmade with love. And she doesn’t stop at soaps!  She also hand crafts lip balms, body oils and (soon to be released) facial clay masks. I haven’t tried the facial clay mask yet and will most likely share about that on my instagram exclusively so make sure to follow me on instagram on details of this mask made for combo/oily skin.
