I recently used a groupon for ELF products that let me get $35.00 worth of product for only $15.00. I held onto it for a while since I was undecided on what I wanted and ultimately choose a plethora of lip products to test and swatch. Boy oh boy did I get a lot! It really seems like more once it arrives. I even posted the haul to my facebook page to share.
For those of you who have not heard about E.L.F.………..well, where have you been? E.L.F is one of the most affordable and versatile makeup companies I have ever come across! Their products range anywhere from $1-$5 and can be used by teens and women alike with different lines such as their original, studio and mineral. With such a low price point, makeup enthusiasts can go nuts with giant eye shadow palettes and lip gloss selections!
Mineral makeup has been a huge craze over the past years because it excludes unnatural chemical dyes, preservatives or parabens (also used to preserve common personal care products).E.L.F’s mineral line is no different! Beautiful Colors, naturally- based formulas and for a “weightless and flawless” look–and all for way cheaper than you’d find at the department store. Don’t get me wrong, I shop everywhere for all the stuff I try–but it is such a nice surprise to find a brand that is nice AND affordable.
Here are swatches of all the lip products, you can search my facebook page for photos of the ELF pencils and polish.
Sheer tinted and infused with coconut oil, and vitamins A & E for a healthy smooth non-tacky finish
Daring looks like a pearlized sheer rosey pink
Wild is a pearlized sheer peachy pink
A nourishing formula with shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil and vitamin E while imparting light – medium color to the lips
Rose is a light peachy pink
Berry is similar but actually more rosey than Rose
Cherry looks like a fleshy brown that is the most neutral of the three in color, but the darkest in person
100% mineral based formula to keep lips hydrated and soft ranging from sheer to full color
Rich Raspberry is a fun pink with full color
Ripe Rose is more of an orangey brown on my lips
As you can see, many of the colors are very similar, but because they range from $3-5 I think its OK to have tons in varying shades. I do like the mineral lip tints the best, I never thought they would really have any color so I was surprised that some of them applied just like a lipstick would.

I haven't tried any of their mineral lip products, but I really like elf's mineral eyeshadow - I think I have about 5 or 6 of those. I've used their foundation and concealer, as well, and have decent results for the price. Plus, I love their $1 eyeshadow primer - when I can't afford "the good stuff," this $1 primer does just fine.
I would definitely recommend the lip tint and the blush/bronzer duo. I also have a couple of the mineral shadows, my only problem is using "loose" shadows...i tend to get WAY messy, lol
i have not tried any of the mineral lip products either, i don't generally wear lipstick b/c i have such full lips and i think color just draws attention to my lips. I may try something not too bright but not too dark either...what would you suggest for a medium to deep skintone?
Ereeka, a nice semi clear pink gloss may be better for you. A clear pink can bring out the natural color of your lips instead of going for bold color that you would feel awkward wearing. I say start out with sheers. Revlon lip butters are a good way to start, they have sheer and opaque colors that look awesome!
I love, love, love ELF! :) I only have their mineral lip gloss in clear but I love it. I want to try the mineral lip tints soon. Thanks for the review!
This is a random question: Does your mineral lip gloss applicator have a weird smell to it? Mine does and I'm not sure if that's how they all smell.
I have never noticed a scent coming from the products. Maybe if it smells funky you got a bad one?
yeah maybe..oh well i cant smell it when i swatch it on my hand so i guess thats all that matters? lol
