MUD: Makeup Designory from #IMATSLA

This past weekend Ok, I’m behind on this post….a few weeks ago, I got to attend IMATs held at the Pasadena Convention Center and yes do I feel damn lucky.  If you haven’t heard of what IMATs is, its the International Makeup Artists Trade show and it brings together all kinds of cosmetic and beauty companies together under one big roof.  Drool worthy?  I think so…..

It was my first time getting to go and I was invited by Blogger Sam of Vous Etes Belle, who you also may know is also a contributing writer for Beauty Collection. It’s funny to think that both Sam and myself have been writing together on the same team for a little over a year now and finally had an opportunity to meet face to face!  She had an extra ticket to go and I gladly accepted.  Whoo hoo for makeup!  She actually managed to write about our trip which you can view here, photos and all.

We got there early with camera’s ready but to be honest with you—I have a hard time remembering to USE it once I’m out of the house.  I snapped maybe two shots of the sign outside the building and from that point on I was googly eyes for all the products before me. I got a few things on discount at the convention and I am dying to share them with you, the first being from M.U.D or Make Up Designory.

DogKilla!! hahahah!

M.U.D  is both boutique and school, offering the best of both worlds.  The offer classes at their locations for both artists and enthusiasts which sounds TOTALLY cool to do.  The classes are listed as free in the booklet I got with my purchase, all you do is buy the makeup for the kit/class.  They even have free private lessons if you spend $150 in product and can get a detailed, personalized face chart and instructions just for you.

As for their products, it looks like they carry pretty much the basics we all know, foundations, blushes, bronzers, shadows, lipsticks, glosses, the usual and specific tools…and lastly, airbrush kits.  Looks like airbrush getting to be more the norm because a ton of companies have their own version.

I got a 4 color eye palette for $20 at the show which usually goes for $56.  The shadows are refills that can be popped in and out and are encased in a heavy duty cardboard-like palette.  They specifically made it out of recyclable materials so plastic palettes don’t get dumped in the landfills.  I got two shades of purple in: Sugared Violet and Voodoo, and a coppery/neutral duo of Cajun Spice and Cashmere.

Sugared Violet: A Shimmering Opalescent violet color

Voodoo:  A dark, shimmering violet color

Cajun Spice: A warm, shimmering copper color

Cashmere: A sparkling rose-beige color

Both of these combos are colors that I usually like to stick to and they just look so pretty under the convention lights!  I’m only pissed now that when I was popping them into the palette I made a dent in one of the pans and you can see it. Grrr!

Here are swatches on my arm wet & dry:

And here they are being worn:

What do I think of Makeup Designory Cosmetics?  I’m loving them so far.  The color looks great

fallout? a little but only when I’m applying maybe too much at once? Not through out the day.

creasing? None to be seen after a full day of work!

color?  Still gorgeous after a full day of work!

I was also given a coupon for a 40% discount on their products next time I shop which is friggin awesome!  I don’t see an expiration date on it either, I just got to bring it into the store with me when I go.  Which is in Burbank so, hmm, who knows when I’ll drive to Burbank but Ill keep this coupon with me just in case.

You can check out Makeup Designory Cosmetics or MUD by visiting their website.

They also have a facebook page, twitter page, and blog filled with makeup tips in case your interested.

XOXO
