Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

Now that I’m in my 30’s, I can’t go a day without using moisturizer. I remember the days when I was much younger and would easily skip this step thinking my skin felt fine after washing and that it might make me break out so I’d skip it. *face palm*.  I’m older and wiser now and SO happy that vogue influencer sent me Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to try because I L-O-V-E, love it!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is fast absorbing moisturizer that has purified hyaluronic acid to keep skin hydrated longer.  In case you didn’t know, Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000x times it weight in water which is why it’s great for facial skincare products. It is also formulated to be oil-free and non-comedogenic which my normal/combo/acne prone skin appreciates.

While the packaging really isn’t anything to go bananas about, I do like it.  It comes in a wide mouth jar that you do need to dip your fingers in, but at this point of the skincare game I don’t mind too much. I’ve just washed my face with my hands that are also being cleaned with the cleanser so for the most part, I don’t feel like I’m contaminating anything.  For those who just can’t handle it, you can always use a q-tip to get the amount you need out.

The formula is a aqua turquoise blue gel that feels “wet” upon application. I like it. Makes me feel like my skin is being hydrated rather than coated with a heavy cream.  The gel does dry eventually and leaves skin feeling moisturized but like nothing is on it–which I love. I hate that after feeling of having a ton of products on my face–I want to feel like it’s just my skin and nothing else.

The scent is very clean, I can’t quite put my finger on it. I don’t want to say fresh laundry or linens because that doesn’t sound like a skincare product scent, but that’s what i think of it. Maybe just for fun we’ll call it a “clean water” scent. I don’t’ know, but it is nice and doesn’t linger after application, just when you open the jar.

I’ve been using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for about two weeks and use it at least once a day over my Michael Todd Antioxidant Carrot Multivitamin Serum and found that I’ve had no additional breakouts or irritation. I even slather this over my lips which are very prone to dryness and peeling. I do feel like this moisturizer works all day or until the next time I wash my face (which can be anywhere from 2-3 times a day) The only other moisturizer I alternate with is my Cereve moisturizer that keeps my skin in check but that’s a cream and takes longer to absorb.

You can purchase Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (1.7 oz) for 18.99 on the Neutrogena site but I know that it’s carried at my favorite store (Target) and many drugstore locations.  They also have a gel-cream for people with extra dry skin in the same size and price range.  Since I like this product so much, I’m starting to eye the hydroboost gel-cream for eyes.
