ColourPop Lippies and Highlighters

ColourPop gets some SERIOUS love on instagram and there is no question why.  Their collection of cruelty-free lip, cheek and eye colors hit the mark when it comes to what us beauty lovers obsess over; affordable yet gorgeous products that we can buy by the dozen!  With the announcement of their recently released highlighters I had to make an order and let my collection grow.

I already own the lippie stix and pencil in “lumiere” (a dusty mauve) and frequently use their beige eye shadow “cop a feel”.  When i first got the shadow I noticed it had an almost bouncy feel to the product. Soft and easy to apply with just your fingers, I loved how I could throw this one in my weekend bag and forgo the brush due to space.  Lumiere is my favorite color out of their entire collection, but because it’s matte I have to make sure my lips are in prime condition or it looks bad on me.

I saw that they had a lip primer and ordered one of those hoping that it may help with lumeire’s application and would prevent lip dry out.  The primer glides on just like a lip balm and is made with mango, avocado and shea butter (some of my favs) for a smooth finish.  I sometimes just swipe the primer on my lips when I’m around the house and am too lazy to find a lip balm. For $5 bucks I think it’s a great deal since I have spent upward to $15 for smoothing lip products and this one feels nice and gives your lips a slight tackiness to hold lip color.

I decided to try another lippie in a more glossier, satin finish because mattes are just difficult for me to work with.  Enter the color, “Frida”, a warm, nude pink that works for any face I plan to do.  It’s a bit more on the pinky size of the colors I frequently gravitate towards (mauves), but works well and is very pretty in person. I also like that this doesn’t dry out my lips like the matte colors.

I also got a new lippie pencil in “bound” which is described as a “mid-tone nude pink”. But if you look at my swatch you will see that this most definitely looks like a nude brown on me. Sad. I think I was admiring the lippie stix color in the website swatch and not paying attention to the lip pencil swatch. I should have gotten the lippie stix instead of the lippie pencil in this color. It’s a bit dark for me, but maybe when layered with a more pink color it will look better on me. But I do have to say that these lip liners are bomb. It can give you a real precision look of the lips when applied with some attention which I need to practice!

Before moving onto the highlighters, I have to say THAT I WANT THEM ALL! They teased us with countless instagram photos making us pant and huff asking when they would be released.  And someone was going to win the entire set. Congratulations to whomever that was because she’s totally gonna have a makeup party with it all (invite me, k?).

The highlighters have a little less “bounce” than the shadows do, but still loved the feel of them.  They are super pretty when swatched and work great with a little smudge of the finger or a swish of the brush.  I like highlighters for my brow bone and the “C” area around me eye to high cheekbone. I also like that these are a bit bigger than the eye shadow pans.  Not sure if it holds more product since I don’t have the shadow packaging anymore but I’ll tell myself that it does. haha.

Butterfly Beach – is described as soft peach with flecks of gold and silver. To me, this is a copper. I don’t see peach in this at all. Still beautiful though, and produced the most color payout of all three I ordered.

Hippo – is described as a soft cool-toned icy lavender. This description holds to be true in my opinion. This is such a perfect eye color as well and plan to use it as a shadow as well. The formula is silky smooth! The color payout is good, but not as good as Butterfly Beach.

Monster – is described as a light pink opalescent duo chrome.  This description is also very accurate.  This is the first one I fell in love with on instagram. Who doesn’t love a duochrome of anything? I plan to use this on the brow bones and as a shadow as well.

Are you a fan of ColourPop?  Have you visited their Instagram yet? If you haven’t….do it!  You will be enamored with the products and freezing your wallet in a block of ice in no time thanks to me.
