As someone who works out hard in the gym and enjoys exploring beauty brands, I recently went on a mission to find brands that fit my specific needs. I want something that’s going to keep my skin clean, clear and comfortable while looking nice and being fun to use. I sweat a lot in the gym — there is no way around that, so I need something that will keep breakouts at bay, remove ground in dirt from gym flooring and of course, smelling fresh. I was excited to find the brand Pulse Skincare which is made for athletes.
What initially drew me to the brand was their simplicity, no frills presentation. The minimalist design crossed with unique scents and products had me interested to give them a try. I reached out to the brand to see if I could put some of their products to the test and they sent over an assortment for me to put to use.
Pulse Skincare uses all natural good-for-you ingredients and eliminated questionable parabens and sulfates and controversial palm oil from all their products. They’re also very proud to say they test their products on athletes — not animals! (hooray!)
So what’s the first thing I do when I finish my workout? Normally, I rush home, make my protein shake and then hit the shower because I’m soaked and I stink and I want to get into clean clothes. But I was recently reminded by Master Esthetician, Vanessa Morlet from King Esthetics that skin care should start right away after finishing a workout — like the minute you grab your water bottle and gym bag! I now keep Pulse Skincare Quick Fix Spray in my bag and spritz my face and upper back after toweling off to fight any breakouts that even think about starting. A spritz toner is just about the EASIEST way to apply a toner. I like that I don’t have to bring cotton pads with me or worry about where to throw away any trash. I just spritz down and allow it to do it’s thing with it’s acne-fighting blend of Witch hazel, Tea Tree Oil and Lavender Essential oil.
After my protein shake, I hope in the shower and suds down with their Matcha + Mint Body Wash. I did notice that this foams less than some other body washes I use, but I really don’t mind because I use a shower poof anyways. This is definitely an invigorating and uplifting scent. Tea tree oil scent reigns king with this formula with a slight hint of matcha. I think this would be the perfect shower gel to use on a hot day because of the almost cooling sensation I get from it. My husband also gave it a try and likes that it’s a unisex scent unlike my other bath gels I have lined up in our shower. The do have a few scents that I’m interested in like their antioxidant packed Acai or their moisturizing Honey + Ginger option.
Prefer to soak in a bath? They also have bath bombs!
I always love a good scrub for face and body so I was excited to put the matching Matcha Scrub to use. I tend to get dry skin in areas and dirt and sweat can quickly clog the pores so a scrub is a must for me. While the body wash has a stronger Tea Tree oil scent, I had gym friends confirm for me that the aroma of Matcha was stronger within the scrub. Truth be told, I’ve never tried anything Matcha flavored so I have no idea what it smells like! Luckily my friends do! This scrub has strong enough grit for the skin on the body while remaining gentle enough for the face. After I shampoo and use the wash, I’ve been scrubbing my upper back and shoulders with this scrub and leaving it on my cheeks while I do other shower things. Needless to say, my skin feels soft, smooth afterwards.
I gotta say that while I still have one cystic pimple on my cheek that seems to never go away, the minor breakouts that I usually get along my hairline and in the middle of my shoulder blades have basically been kept under control. I think the Quick Fix Spray became a really important step for me to incorporate into my skincare routine. I like what Pulse Skincare is doing for me and will be keeping a bottle of Quick Fix in my bag from now on.
I was also sent one of their latest product launches, their CBD Muscle rub which I’ll share more about on Instagram after I try it some more. CBD is the latest, hottest ingredient being incorporated into skincare and beauty products lately.
