Keeping Hyaluronic Acid in Your Skincare Routine with Hyalogic

In all my years of blogging, I’ve learned a lot about skincare and what will work for my skin. My skin has changed over the years which meant my skincare routine changed with it. Some products come and go depending on the season, but there is a very small list of things that DO stay in my routine on the regular. Hyaluronic Acid is always number #1 on my list and has proven to me just how beneficial it is to my skin whether it was ten years ago with fewer wrinkles, or during a stressed out irritated week in the middle of Winter. Lately, I’ve been using the brand, Hyalogic, which specializes in hyaluronic acid-based skincare and supplements for full body wellness.  They also have stuff for pets too! You may be familiar with them since they were the 2018 BetterNutrition Best of Natural Beauty and 2019 DeliciousLiving Beauty & Body Award winners for their skincare products!

So what makes HA (hyaluronic acid) so special? Let me count the ways… Did you know that HA is a type of carbohydrate that is naturally found in the body? It helps retain water moisture in the skin and other tissues by over 1000X fold, and helps lubricate our joints for mobility and comfort. It’s also important for eye health and wound healing. This stuff is the MAGIC that helps keep our bodies hydrated and moisturized ,working as a humectant pulling in the necessary moisture the body needs. Skin is soothed and plumped up, softening those fine lines.

Plump, hydrated skin is high on my list of wants, and well-lubricated joints aren’t a bad thing either. Sadly, hyaluronic acid doesn’t get produced at the same amount as we continue to age, so supplementing it topically and orally has shown to help. I haven’t had any experience in trying it out orally but agree that even just using it topically can produce visible benefits that put a smile on my face.

It’s said that HA breaks down on a daily cycle which is why it’s so important to add it to your skincare daily. I try to use it both AM and PM because it makes my skin feel so good. My skincare routine usually begins the minute I step out of the shower when my skin has been all steamed up. I love using the Collagen Facial Mist first thing because it’s refreshing and a great first step to hydrate my skin. It’s has marine based collagen in it to help firm the skin while HA does it work. Collagen strengthens the skin and helps improve the skin’s elasticity. Coupling the two together is a fantastic step to include in any anti-aging regimen and has stuck with me for years.  Just a couple spritzes is all I need for a good mist over the face and neck. I then follow with the EpiSilk Pure HA serum.

I really enjoy this serum because it’s easier to apply with it’s gel like consistency. I find too often that serum in general can be too fluid and seep through fingers and get wasted away. This vegan colorless, odorless clear gel takes seconds to absorb into the skin leaving it with a hydrated look and feel. You know that hydrated glow you have just after a facial? Imagine treating yourself to that each morning when you do your routine. Some days I go bare faced with no makeup because how nice my skin feels. Hydrated skin looks healthier in general and allows for smoother makeup application. In a way, it’s a great primer for makeup application!

For days when my skin needs a little extra care, I reach for the HA Moisture Mask. While I usually don’t like paper-like masks because they have a poor fit 90% of the time, Hyalogic went one step beyond by utilizing cloth material instead. I can say this this mask can stay on my face perfectly for the full 20 minutes. A weird analogy but, you know how perfectly paper mache fits over a balloon when you did arts and crafts? It fits that good because it stretches and overlaps in some places. The mask is completely fragrance free, vegan and gluten free. This was a great pick my up after a long hot day of training outside in the sun, or before a date night. Once I take the mask off I massage anything left over onto the face and neck and let it “air dry”.

I’d be curious to see if taking an oral HA supplement would produce the same satisfying results that I see when using hyaluronic acid topically. That may be something I can test down the road.

You can find Hyalogic online at www.hyalogic.com but can also track their products down using their “Find  In Store” option.
