New Colorescience Sunforgettable Face Shield Mineral Sunscreen Shades

I’ve always been a fan of using sunscreen but have become way more vigilant using it since moving to Arizona. There is literally NO hiding from the sun here with the active lifestyle I have. Between outdoor workouts, pool time, and frequent trips to the market, I always make sure that my face and chest are fully protected with a skin-friendly mineral sunscreen. I’ve used Colorescience on and off through the years but recently became intrigued by their newest products in the Sunforgettable Face Shield line.

Colorescience prides itself on making award-winning 100% reef-safe mineral-based sunscreens formulated with antioxidants and botanicals for healthy, protected skin. They also make some great skincare and makeup products that help fight and correct skin damage by not only protecting against UV light but blue light, Infrared Radiation, and environmental pollution that we come across in our daily lives, and are a great option for sensitive skin types! Their Color Balms and Total Eye 3-in-1 are some that come to mind immediately!

The Face Shield in particular is a long time favorite of mine for its easy spreadability. Lots of mineral-based sunscreens are not only thick but leave a noticeable cast on the skin which leaves much to be desired. Colorescience Sunforgettable Face Sheild offers broad-spectrum SPF 50 coverage with a 12% zinc oxide non-nano formula that blends into the skin without the noticeable white cast because of the added tint to it. It’s also water-resistant for up to 40 minutes, cruelty-free, and is reef-safe (hooray!). And while they don’t list this on their packaging, I want to share that I find this sting-free on sweaty days where I’m positive some gets in my eyes. No one wants to be blinded while running or floating in a pool so I always use Colorescience.

While I usually reach for the original version for daily use, I’m excited to use their new glow and bronze versions that can enhance my beauty routine in a new way. The Colorescience Sunforgettable Face Sheild Glow SPF 50 version is seriously gorgeous with it’s pearlized formula. I love a good glowy look — I feel skin looks healthy and hydrated when it has an illuminated base. The glow version offers the same great protection of the original with a golden touch of pearl to it — NOT glittery. I’ve been known to use this over my entire face and chest for an ultra glowy look but you can tone it down by applying just to the high points of your face (brow bones, bridge of nose, cheekbones and cupids bow) just like a liquid highlighter.

If you want to add a bit of sun-kissed color to your look while staying protected the Colorescience Sunforgettable Face Sheild Bronze SPF 50 is for you. When I’m doing makeup, I like to do a 1:1 ratio of the original version and the bronze version for my “foundation”, and add the glow version on specific areas on my face.

Just remember that these sunscreens don’t “absorb” into the skin because they are mineral sunscreens and actually sit on top of the skin to reflect UV light which is how physical blockers differ from chemical-based sunscreens which absorb UV rays and disperse as heat. I find that using a good oil-based makeup removing balm helps break up the sunscreen at the end of the day to clean the skin and keep the pores free of leftover product. Liquid makeup removers can work too but I find Farmacy Green Clean, Physicians Formula Matcha Melting Balm and Palmer’s Coconut Monoi Cleansing Balm have had the best results for me.

Colorescience has products for total body protection as well, and also come in an original or bronze formula! Don’t forget that because they are also mineral-based you will best remove it with a good body oil rub and then a soapy scrub in the shower!

I truly believe in Colorescience products because I’ve tried so many and they all have treated me well. I love that they are mineral-based, cruelty-free, protect my skin, and now come in more beautiful shades.

Have you tried any Colorescience products before? If I had to choose another favorite it would be their Total Eye 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy SPF 35 that acts as a concealer, sunscreen, and hydration treatment all in one!

  • Sounds so great. I know a lot of people use their powder foundation sunscreen but this sounds even better with my dry skin.

  • I haven't tried Colorscience before but I really like the sound of these sunscreen. I also really like that pink shade!

  • Nice overview of this brand! As a person of color, I haven’t found a really good sunscreen as of yet but I’ll be looking for this one in the store to try. Thanks!
