Best All Over Balms And Salves
I’ve always had some type of balm handy since becoming a mom — it was a necessary item for both my daughter and I at different times for different reasons, but I’ve never relied on them as much as I have in the past year with my move to the desert. In California, I would occasionally use them for my lips when they would get dried out, but now, they truly have become a product that works it’s way into my routine almost daily throughout the year.
Today, I wanted to share some of my tried and true favorites when it comes to all over balms or salves. Ones that I keep reaching for, and that I would repurchase in a heartbeat.
At first, I was a bit bummed at how small the tube was when this arrived in a Target order, but it’s lasted months and months of use for Zoe and I. I love the (very) delicate smell of coconut monoi oil and found that this mixed wonderfully with any of my body lotions. I loved using this on both of us during the Summer after we’d spend afternoons swimming in the pool. All the sun and chlorine water dried out the skin so mixing a little of this with a lotion made our skin feel comfortable again. Zoe also gets very dry skin at times, so whenever she complains that she is itchy, I tell her to grab this balm and let me put it on her just about anywhere she needs. A little goes a long way and it will melt fairly quickly in warmer temps so keep that in mind where you store it! Baby Bum Natural Monoi Coconut Balm is considered a “clean beauty” product, is vegan, cruelty-free, synthetic fragrance-free, and uses a blend of coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, avocado oil, and aloe. I like that this comes in a tube, just be careful dispensing it during hotter months. Available at Target and Amazon.
I received a few items from Suki Skincare for testing and this was one of them. Full confession, it sat in my beauty box for a while before I felt I needed to give it a try because I was fixated on their Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser and forgot about everything else. The Suki Balm has a waxier texture. It presents itself as a solid in a jar that you scrape out with a spatula. I would say this has a less ‘greasy’ feel to it and does take the warmth of your body to liquefy and blend into the skin. Because of Crossfit, I basically use balms on my hands almost daily, but I also enjoy using this one on my elbows and feet. If you are fragrance sensitive, It does have more of a slight lavender-citrus scent to it. It’s very light and I would prefer fragrance free, but the scent doesn’t bother me. Available on Amazon.
I recently featured this product in a previous post about skin soothers, but I felt it belonged in this post too. I love this balm in a tin because it smells SO good! I love the scent of almond and Zum has the most perfect almond scented products I’ve come across. While it’s solid in the tin, it does melt quickly as you rub your fingers into it to get the product. I like to apply to my cuticles before bedtime, as well as callouses, or just about anywhere I want moisturization and some fragrance to stick. I do notice some “sheen” in using this, so I like to wear some cotton gloves after applying when I need it to soak in a bit first. Shea butter and Goat’s milk, and Vitamin E are the key ingredients in this favorite balm of mine. Zum Rub comes in ten different fragrances and personally, I think would be a great little gift for just about anyone that experiences dry skin in general. Available on Amazon.
I’m a huge fan of the clean beauty brand, Farmacy, and have a big assortment of their skincare products. I knew I needed to give their salve a try because I’m a huge believer in the benefits of skincare made with honey and this was no exception. Honey is incredibly soothing to the skin, and also acts as a humectant to draw moisture in. But by adding in Propolis and Royal Jelly gives it an elevated formula that’s rich in amino acids increases it’s healing powers when it comes to dry, cracked skin. The product is a lightweight gel-jelly that comes in tube form which makes it feel less messy and more controlled when applying, While the ingredients do list “aroma” I am unable to detect any fragrance or taste when I open the tube or apply. Available at Sephora and Amazon.
To be honest, I use all of these interchangeably, but only put Honey Savior and Baby Bum on my face since they feel the most lightweight. I’d say any of these would be a solid choice for gift for anyone who deals with dry skin, lips, or cuticles!

I love that Suki Balm, it's so good!
I need the Zum. I love the smell of almond and it's always hard for me to find a scent I like.
Love this post! I've been on a balm kick myself, but out of these have only tried the Farmacy salve. The Egyptian Magic balm is a great option too (you can use it for literally everything!)
I'm not a big salve person but when it gets really wintery and my skin gets chapped, I'm in! No lizard hands for me! :D
I love balms too and these are fantastic!
I turn balm when my skin is extra dry. I’m going to check these out for sure!
