How I Use Drunk Elephant TLC Happi Scalp
My hair is pretty no fuss for the most part. I no longer color it, and I cut it myself (yeah, I know, yikes). But while I keep things simple, I have honed in on the products that help make my hair feel fantastic whether it’s in a bun or blown out. I thought it would be fun to share some of my healthy haircare products that I have repurchased after trying. It’s time for all my friends to learn about haircare to have on your radar.
I have been using Luseta for over 2-3 years now. I have experimented with a few of their lines and absolutely LOVE their bonding line of products. One product, in particular, is their Bonding No. 3 Cream. I wouldn’t say my hair is particularly damaged but because it’s long and I’m outdoors a lot it does get dried out at the ends. If you’ve never tried a bonding treatment prepare to be wowed by the change in the texture of your hair. Hair products that use bonders are essentially filling in all the holes in each strand of your hair to make them less porous and more smooth. For me, in the beginning, it made my hair dramatically smooth and allowed my hair to dry faster and in a more manageable fashion. A pea-sized dab in my hand and ran through the ends of my hair does wonder! Luseta is not available in stores, although I really wish it was (hint, hint!) and the price is right too. Purchase here.
Sun Bum’s leave-in treatment was something I started using on Zoe and me last Summer. We LIVE at the pool once it hits May, so lots of time in chlorinated water and sunshine which can dry hair out. My little one also likes to swim with goggles which makes her hair a bit of a tangly mess at end of it all, so a detangler is super helpful in convincing her it’s okay to brush her hair. Sun Bum Revitalizing 3-in-1 not only detangles but smooths, offers UV protection, and of course, shine. Also….the scent guys. Who doesn’t want the smell of summer and coconuts in their hair? I absolutely love the scent of sun bum products — it always propels me to try more from them! Next on my list is their shampoo and conditioner in the sun bum line but also the bath products in the baby bum line! Purchase here.
Last year Drunk Elephant came out with an entire line of hair and body products. They all smelled delicious like almonds but one product in particular with no scent got the most attention from me. Happi Scalp scrub has a 10% AHA/BHA blend with plant-derived exfoliating beads to help dissolve and lift up dead skin cells and product buildup that can linger on the scalp. I love using this to make my hair feel more volumized simply by the lift at the roots this product can provide! The nozzle makes it really easy to apply the cream pre-shower and massage into the scalp about ten minutes before washing out. You only need to use this 1-2/week to see or feel the difference and I prefer this over the Briogeo charcoal exfoliating shampoo that feels similar but lacking the chemical exfoliation that Happi Scalp provides. Purchase here.
This product 100% lives up to it’s name! I have MOSTLY straight hair. You know that weird wavy hair you get underneath? That’s how my hair is. It looks straight on the top but underneath it gets wavier and I don’t like it. In order to have a sleek hairstyle, I have to blowdry and flatiron but a good product cant take that blowout to the next level. Dreamcoat spray is best used on wet hair before blowdrying and using a round brush. It creates a seal on each strand of hair to block out unwanted humidity which leads to frizz. I drench my towel-dried hair in this stuff and am amazed at how straight it gets my hair before flat ironing and the fact that it works beyond another hair-washing! They claim it works through 3-4 shampoos and I don’t think that has happened to me, but I know for sure at least another wash. My hair is pretty normal and I’m not sure how well this would work for someone with super thick or very curly hair, but It works fantastic for me! Purchase here.
I learned about Loreal’s 8 Second Water Wonder Lamellar during covid lockdown by reading one of the many “best of amazon” lists you see littering your Facebook feed. I’d never heard of anything like it before, but it sounded similar to a color gloss treatment I used to get from Clairol. They don’t make it anymore but it was amazing! Elvive 8 is a weekly moisturizing wash-out treatment you use in the shower to smooth texture and add shine and can be used on straight or curly hair. It has over 17K+ reviews on Amazon with 4.5 star rating! It uses proteins and amino acids to smooth rough spots on hair making them smoother to the touch. Each bottle has about 10 “doses” and my long hair takes about 1-1.5 to cover it all. You feel slight warmth and rinse out to sleeker hair. I really like the results I get with this. My hair dries straighter on it’s own, and also blows out nicely with less frizz. Purchase here.
I didn’t know this product existed until it arrived in s PR package for me. I must have told them that I discovered I have some white hair. I have only just begun to try this out so I can’t comment on results just yet (it says you need to use it consistently for four months) but I can tell you what it does and what’s in it. This treatment is meant to be applied to the scalp and left on overnight. The treatment contains an ingredient called Darkenyl which helps reactivate and stimulate melanin production in the hair follicle while controlling free radical damage. I find that this product has no scent to it, and I don’t “feel” anything on application (which is good). I will need to report back on results though! Purchase here.

Luseta Bonding No. 3 Cream is now on my radar! It sounds wonderful. I'm also intrigued by Loreal’s 8 Second Water Wonder Lamella. My holy grail hair products include: Olaplex Treatment #3 Hair Perfector, which I like to use after my hair is bleached. There's also Joico K-Pack Luster Locks, which I use as my hair conditioner. I'm still searching for the perfect leave-in treatment for heatless waves from braids.
Oh, I hope you give them a try! I just tried olaplex #3 through my ipsy box and loved it! Crazy how different our hair feels being transformed with product! I'm already buying another bottle of the Loreal Elvive, its so quick and works well. And cheap!
I love that Sun Bum 3-in-1, and needs to go find my bottle! The Luseta Bonding Cream sounds fantastic!
smells SO good! And Zoe loves it too!
Your post has made me want to try Color WOW Dreamcoat Spray. I’ve been using bonding oil lately but Dreamcoat sounds better for summer
I use both the WOW and L'Oreal Wonder. I'm thinking now that I don't use enough of it. My hair is nowhere near as long as yours but I don't drench my hair in either. Now I'll have to try them that way.
The Color wow dream coat and Loreal Wonder water seems redundant. Do you use them together? Alternate? I love Wonder water and was looking to purchase dream coat and just trying to figure out how it would line up in my routine. Thanks!!
I do not use them at the same time. I use one of the other. Dream coat allows my hair to dry straighter without hte help of the blow dryer. Dream coat requires the use of the blow dryer for that extra glassy finish.
