Anyone else let out a sigh of relief when it’s finally that time of day to take a bath or shower? Some days are so crazy that I literally make that noise when my husband comes home and then go upstairs to take a shower in peace. The shower certainly the easiest place for me to relax so I like to use products that make it enjoyable as possible. A shower is always nice, but a shower scented with some of my favorite things is 100% better.
I keep a variety of bath and body products on hand, and rotate them often so everything feels new and I get to enjoy different scents and textures as I swap things in and out. Recently, I grabbed a few new things and stocked up on favorites that I recently finished.
The first thing I bought was the Joon X Moon Coconut Sugar Scrub cubes. I would see these every time I’d go to Target and tell myself that I wanted them, but didn’t need them because I had other things. Well, after months and months I figured it was time — I hadn’t forgotten about them and still wanted them, so into the cart they went! That minimalist packaging was calling to me! The individual cubes are cute and big enough to actually use for a good amount of your body if you’re careful. I usually like to keep it in cube form for rougher areas like my palms, feet, and elbow and then rub all over my legs when they start to fall apart. Can we talk about the scent? You guys, the coconut scent is spot on. The best way to describe it is absolutely delicious! If you enjoy tropical scents this coconut one is spot on and as fragrant as you’d hope it to be.
I only intended to get the sugar cubes and skip the fizzing milk baths because I rarely take baths, but I saw that Joon X Moon also made Bar Bath Bombs in beautiful scents too. I couldn’t resist grabbing the coconut-scented ones and figured I could get a year’s usage out of this box (there are six squares within the bar). I found this scent to be far more delicate compared to the sugar scrubs but moisturizing nonetheless with the help of cocoa and shea butter. I probably still won’t be taking many baths, but it’s nice to drop one of these in when I do. I also think these and the cubes are quite giftable and come in a few different scents.
I had been missing the deep hydration and fragrant scent of Sol De Janiero’ s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (which btw, is pronounced boom boom) and got myself a small tub on my latest Sephora order. Every time I wear this cream my husband notices and tells me I smell good. The scent of pistachio salted caramel, and vanilla blended together is warm, sweet, and long-lasting. Cupacu Butter, Acai Oil, and coconut oil sink into the skin with ease leaving it moisturized as smooth. It also absorbs incredibly well for being a thicker cream, which is really more of a butter in my opinion. Sol De Janiero products definitely cater to those who enjoy a lush scent in their products. I’ve tried their coco cabana scent that one has major tropical coconut and praline notes and just as delicious. I’d have a hard time deciding which one I like more. They do have an unscented cream but I haven’t tried it. I’m curious if it feels the same. It is also available at Sephora.
Cake Beauty was a brand I learned about at least a decade ago when I lived in Los Angeles. I first picked them up from a local store called Beauty Collection and forever fell in love with their velveteen hand cream. It had such a unique feel and scent to it that I’ve never forgotten about them. Fast forward to today and I’m finally trying out their Desserted Island Coco Supreme Body Mousse. I’m happy to report that this was a good purchase and I enjoy the Tahitian coconut vanilla scent as I apply the cream all over. It’s a more delicate scent than Sol De Janeiro, but stronger than the next product I’m going to talk about.
I am a sucker for anything tiare scented (Tahitian gardenia) and The Body Shop captures the fresh but light floral scent I remember from visiting Hawaii. The Tahitian Tiare Body Wash is a shower oil in gel fragranced by monoi oil infused with tiare and coconut oil. It lathers well and reminds me of vacations that I’ve taken in the past. What more can I ask for? If you dream of Hawaii this shower gel will be reminiscent of taking that first step outside where there flowers. It’s amazing. If this isn’t the type of scent there are others like Adriatic peony, french lavender, Makrut Lime, Japanese Camellia, and Balkan juniper.
Daily Concepts is something that’s already in my shower, but now I have something different to use outside too — their Your Hair Towel Wrap. If you don’t have a handy towel like this you are missing out! It’s a pain to try and twist and balance regular towels on your head, they don’t stay in place at all and are heavy. I like these kinds because it’s the perfect size for my head and easy to secure in place so I can do some skincare. My hair also dries faster because I’m able to keep the towel on my hair longer, which is also a plus.
I have a few other things I’d like to try in the near future, like Kopari shower oil and scrub, and more of the Hempz fragrances I haven’t gotten to yet. Necessarie has a body serum which is intriguing but pricey so hard to pull the trigger.
