Colorescience SunForgettable Total Protection Face Shield FLEX SPF 50

I’ve been a huge fan of Colorescience for many years now. They are one of my top brand recommendations when it comes to sunscreens and even eye treatments. Quite honestly, it’s a brand that always gets traction on my blog and Instagram, and I get it. They make some really fantastic products that have been clinically tested, praised in media, and garnered awards for their ability to protect like no other, and produce results with their skincare. So it get’s me excited when I see them release new products like their new Colorescience SunForgettable Total Protection Face Shield FLEX SPF 50

I have chosen Colorescience Face Sheild as my 1st choice for sunscreen for a few reasons. For one, their sunscreens have always been mineral-based which works better for my skin and eyes. Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and dissipate it into heat where mineral sunscreens use ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to create a protective shield on top of the skin deflecting damaging UV rays. Chemical sunscreens tend to sting my eyes where a mineral-based option won’t.

Their formulas also fight and protect against environmental pollution and infrared and blue light radiation with the help of iron oxides (which also tint the product) and EnviroScreen®  technology, a patented ingredient blend that soothes hydrates, and supports the skin barrier.

It should also be mentioned they are also cruelty-free, oil-free, gluten-free, gluten-free, reef-safe, and non-nano. Shall I go on?

The Colorescience Face Shield line started with a single option that promised a white-cast-free natural finish and has since developed two more luminizing options (glow and bronze) as well as a completely matte version. This year, they have introduced something I didn’t realize I needed but glad to have, the FLEX formula which offers color coverage almost like a foundation.

For the longest time, I actually mixed the original, bronze, and glow versions to create my own skin-perfecting sunscreen blend that I simply referred to as my foundation. With FLEX I actually can achieve medium buildable coverage with one of the four shades they carry (light, medium, tan and deep). My skin needs medium most of the year and switches to Tan when we hit late Summer.

Colorescience Face Shield FLEX (along with previous versions) feels 100% comfortable on the skin, remaining lightweight and easy to spread and blend. Face Shield FLEX contains color-bursting particles that blossom into your shade right before your eyes and it reminds me of the olden days of using an Almay face tint that did the same.

My complexion is evened out nicely with 1-2 layers of FLEX applied to my face and provides a demi-matte finish. I prefer some dewiness so I simply moisturize a bit more before applying Flex. Best of all, I can mix this with any one of my other versions to customize my look. Glow adds a champagne shimmer/highlight while bronze can easily deepen any other choice to match my summer skin tone. Additionally, if you’re someone who has combo skin, the matte version can be applied where you get greasy and other versions can be applied anywhere else.

The beauty of keeping Colorescience Sunforgettable Face Sheild line in my daily routine is that they are easy to reapply for maximum protection. That is, if I use them with cream complexion products, like their Color Balms or some of my other favorite cream blushes and bronzer. I can pat face shield FLEX whenever I need application and just repat on my blush with my fingers. I still use powder products on top, but wanted to mention how easy it was when you use everything cream in terms of sunscreen re-application.

Other products worn in photos below:

Farmacy Honey Grail Oil • Colorescience Total Eye 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy, ELF brow pencil, Colorescience Lip Shine in Coral, Pixi Palette for blush and bronzer.

Colorescience Face Sheild FLEX has found a permanent home in my beauty collection, along with several other products from their line. Will you consider Colorescience to be a part of your routine?
