Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color

When it comes to eye makeup, I like to keep it pretty simple. I’ve never been able to do elaborate eye looks, and as much as I would love that skill, it’s not really my style. I tend to stick to eye-brightening shades on the lids, followed by several coats of mascara. I’m not sure why Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks crossed my path but it ended up in my Sephora shopping basket, and I’m here to tell you about them!

I’ve tried a few stick eye shadows before. Some are nice, like the Pixi Beauty Endless Shade Sticks but they never grabbed me as much as these caviar sticks do. I only own two, but guys these are AMAZING!

Not only do they come in a stunning 42 shades (this includes their new rose gold collection!), but also three types of finishes (matte, shimmer, and chrome) to create endless amounts of day and night eye looks with up to 12 hours of wear time! Each shade contains light-diffusing pearl pigments that add that extra special something to their appearance

THE FEEL

Right off the bat, I want you to understand how creamy these are. Have you ever tried an eyeshadow stick that was slightly drying? Or one that creased or made your lids feel sticky?  Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks do none of that. The stick glides on the lid with ease, never allowing me to feel any tug.

They are also incredibly easy to blend with just your fingers or diffuse with a brush. I love the ease of one less tool to use and usually just blend and pat it out above my crease so you can see the color when my eyes are open. The formula also allows you enough time to smudge and diffuse before setting and becoming transfer-proof. I would also imagine these would be amazing as a base for pressed shadows on top to really intensify a look.

THE COLOR

The first color I purchased was Metallic Taupe, a nice everyday wearable color that can be a 100% opaque metallic shade or diffused out to a light shimmery wash. When I saw that Laura Mercier released an entire rose gold collection that included six new caviar sticks plus a roseglow highlighting powder, I knew I had to get my hands on another shade. Lucky for me, Kiss From A Rose (described as a shimmering pink petal rose) was the shade I hoped for and there was one left at my local Sephora!

I feel like the color description for both shades are a little off though.  When I think of petal pink, I almost think of a ballerina pink and Kiss From A Rose is much warmer pink or a metallic Fuschia in some light. Metallic Taupe is a warm golden shade to me, I don’t really see it as taupe but because of the light-diffusing and different intensities of light that I look at the color, my eyes say gold with some pinky bronze too. That said, I picked these colors because the swatches were pretty and they could have been called purple bananas for all I care, but definitely check swatches before buying so you know what the color is really like.

Here I am wearing Metallic Taupe.

WHERE TO BUY

I do hope to grow my collection of these because the color options are beautiful and they are so easy to use! Each shade is $29 which is pretty steep for me; especially if I want to get more shades, but I truly feel these are top-notch and 100% worth it.  A quick google search showed me a few shades are half price. I don’t know if that means they are being discontinued but wanted to note that in case you were looking for a deal.

  • These are very pretty! I prefer simple looks as well. I usually just have a wash of color on my lids and a little eyeliner.

  • In the summer I like to keep it simple and eyeshadow sticks are the way to go. I've tried brands from high-end to drugstore and Laura Mercier are the best! I have Gilded (was LE?), Copper (stunning) and Sandglow. If you're looking for something a bit cheaper, Mally's shadow sticks are fab too!

  • I have several of these and are so easy to work with. One year there was a set of them during the holidays that I bought and got a lot of use out of. Your two shades are beautiful.

  • I love LM Caviar Sticks. They are so easy to use and provide such a pretty look. I need some new ones!
