Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Body Serum
When it comes to body polishing and smoothing, the first thing that comes to mind are scrubs, but it seems there is a new product trend out there and its body serums! Okay, maybe I was a little behind on the times because there are a lot of body serums out there, but this is my first time with one in my hands to try myself! Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Body Serum just hit stores this month and I’m here for it. Continue to read my introductory mini-review of this new product.
You may be wondering what a body serum could do for your skin and the answer is just about anything. Serums in general are used for more targeted treatments using higher concentrations of ingredients, just as you see in the ones we use on our faces. Serums also penetrate the skin better than something thicker like a cream or lotion. The feel is usually lightweight for quick absorption making them comfortable to use on the skin, and layered with something moisturizing and occlusive to seal it all in.
Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Body Serum is modeled after their face product, Honeymoon Glow, a 14% AHA/BHA serum that aids in exfoliation, resurfacing and smoothing. The face product is a pretty potent one in my opinion and I can only use it a few times a week. It does a great job of clearing pimples and smoothing the skin with continued use.
The body product is a 12% AHA/BHA serum that uses lactic acid and salicylic acid to resurface the skin, improving tone and texture, as well as eliminating breakouts by deep cleaning the pores. Farmacy also included moisturizing shea butter, as well as their proprietary antioxidant-rich honey blend that acts as the humectant drawing hydration into the skin. It even includes upcycled prickly pear leaf juice, known for its potent levels of omegas and vitamin C, and barrier boosting abilities to further replenish the skin.
The serum is lightweight and not sticky at all. It does list flavor/aroma in the ingredient list, but it truly just smells like “skincare product X” to me. I thought it might smell like honey but it doesn’t. It smells like something, but nothing intentional (or bad for that matter). Because of the exfoliating nature of this product, they do recommend using it at night time because you will become more sun-sensitive and it IS summertime right now. They also recommend incorporating this into your body care routine by starting with 1-2 days and then increasing as you see fit over time. You should also be following with a moisturizer to lock it all in.
I don’t have any serious skin issues to treat, but I did want to give this a try so I began with treating my elbows and feet, and then added my lower legs and upper arms. I wear sandals almost every day here so my feet do get dry quickly and I have to file them often. I’m hoping this serum will help smooth them a bit and help prevent ingrown hair from shaving. Farmacy does caution against using this product right after shaving but that’s just how the schedule worked out for me half of the time. I felt a slight tingle here and there but nothing alarming I think because I was careful with how often I was using it. I suspect this would also work great for those who deal with Keratosis Pilaris (also known as chicken skin bumps).
It’s only been a couple of weeks (literally two), but I do love how my legs look and feel when I add this under my bedtime lotion, usually Hempz or Petal Fresh. My feet also look better in general and I suspect I will eventually be able to file less. (I’ve skipped it for now because I didn’t want to destroy my skin with a foot file) Those small rough patches I get my elbows from time to time have smoothed out completely. I only wish this was a solution for my calloused hands but I don’t think I can swing weights around and use heavy exfoliants on the palms of my hands at the same time.
Either way, I will say that I do like this product having used it for two weeks now. It’s doing the exact job it claims to do and hasn’t caused any irritation for me. My legs look smooth and hydrated and my feet look good in sandals!

This sounds fantastic! The consistency and exfoliation sounds great. I love using products with lactic acid, and even better if that ingredient is in a body serum!
I haven't tried a body serum yet either. I need to keep my eyes open for one that can address my issues. I love Farmacy. Everything they make is terrific :)
