Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
I have to admit, the past two weeks in Arizona have been disgustingly hot. I say this more often than I should (guuuuuuyysss, it’s so hot here!) but the temps really cranked up lately since we’re in the thick of Summer. My face has been sweatier than usual and my makeup is going from dewy and cute to sweaty and drippy. Not a good look. It was time I switched up some of the skincare products I’m using to adjust to the stickier temps I’ve been dealing with. Luckily, one of my favorite brands, Farmacy Beauty has some things perfect for this kind of weather!
If you look back in my posts, you’ll see that I generally recommend gentle cleansers for daily use. Something strong enough to wash makeup and sunscreen away, but nothing that leaves your skin feeling tight or uncomfortable. Farmacy had sent me their Whipped Greens cleanser to try back in the Winter when it was far too dry and cold for me to consider using, but I pulled it out of my stash and put it to use immediately.
Whipped Greens oil-free cleanser is a pH-balanced vegan foaming cleanser suitable for combo and oily skin types. I usually categorize my skin as normal to dry, but as I said, things change in extreme heat for me. Whipped greens goes beyond a traditional “basic” cleanser with a formula that includes a few unique properties. Moringa, a type of plant, is included in the cleanser to purify the skin and fight free radical damage since it contains vitamin A, C, and E. Papaya enzyme is also used to gently exfoliate, helping pores release any impurities for clearer skin, and mineral-rich green clay to further help the pore-clearing process. Lastly, they included Sodium PCA, which helps maintain skin moisture levels.
To be honest, I had no idea there was clay in here. If I read that beforehand, I would have missed out on trying this and put it in my giveaway pile. Clays usually suck the life out of my skin so I’ve learned to avoid them in any products but I am happy to report my skin looks good after using this cleanser! It dispenses as a thick pearlized green cream that foams nicely on the skin.
The scent of the product is almost undetectable to me. No synthetic fragrances are used in Farmacy products, but there must be something that is giving it a natural fragrant scent. I think I smell lime mixed with something else, but I need Jen from My Beauty Bunny’s nose to figure that one out for me. I will continue to use Whipped Greens for the remainder of the hot weather since I do feel it balances my skin. No more grease face. Just clean face.
And we can’t forget about moisturizer! I recently finished a heavier moisturizer that I thought I was very happy with (still am), but realized I probably should have saved the leftover bit for Winter. My skin looked great until it didn’t. So I switched to a gel-type moisturizer since they tend to be kinder in hotter months. Daily Greens Oil-free moisturizer is not new to me. I use this last Summer as well and enjoyed the results.
Not only is Daily Greens oil-free, but it is also silicone-free. That’s something that isn’t of concern to me as I’m sure something I use on my face has silicones in it, but if you avoid them, it’s good to know this is an option. I really love the lightweight hydration I get from this gel moisturizer. It has a very similar, but more pronounced scent to it that is easier to identify as lemon or lime but goes away when you apply it to your skin.
It, of course, includes hyaluronic acid for moisture, and something new to me, polyglutamic acid, which inhibits the breakdown of HA’s, helping the skin hold onto moisture. Moringa, papaya, and willow herb aid in reducing shine which I believe it does. My skin looks hydrated and healthy after applying but not super dewy like my heavier options.
I think this is an excellent duo if you deal with oily skin, or are someone like myself, who gets combo skin when it’s really hot outside. Do you use anything from Farmacy?
