Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter

It was just a few weeks ago where the heat and humidity here in Arizona made every day absolutely sweaty and uncomfortable. I was getting more breakouts and trying to switch up my products to adjust to the change, and now here we are, back to a tolerable 100 degrees and my usual skincare routine. But the blogger life always means a new product is on the horizon to try, and when an opportunity to try Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter presented itself, I swooped it up!

I’ve never actually tried anything from Josie Maran before. I’ve always seen the brand at Sephora but I usually don’t just toss “extras” in my cart when shopping there — I go for specific things because of my budget. That said, I’ve always admired the brand and am very excited to share with you today!

The Brand

The Josie Maran brand is considered a Sephora clean beauty brand which I appreciate. I am not 100% clean beauty, nor am I 100% cruelty-free on the products I try — but I do what I can, where I can. The idea of less questionable ingredients being used in the products I put on my body makes sense to me and more confident in the product choices I make.

But back to the brand, Josie started her brand almost 20 years ago with the idea of luxury with conscience, creating products with a central ingredient, 100% pure argan oil. It went from finding the purest, carefully sourced oil to bottle — to now an entire line for face, body, and cosmetics!

The Ingredients

The Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter is a lightweight oil-powered cream for normal, dry and even combo skin types! The formula includes ethically sourced 100% pure argan oil, watermelon seed oil, and cucumber extract, shea butter, and aloe nectar for a truly skin-nourishing cream.

Argan oil is full of antioxidants and fatty acids which our skin loves and appreciates because it improves the skin barrier function while deeply moisturizing. Watermelon seed oil, cucumber extract, and shea butter offer further moisturization of the skin while aloe nectar offers hydration while soothing the skin and reducing redness.

The cream comes in two options, non-scented (what I have) and vanilla-scented (available on the JM site). And the jar feels substantial with heavy amber glass and a rose gold metallic lid. I must say it looks super pretty on my counter next to some True Botanicals products I am also testing!

The Feel

When you look at the cream in the jar it looks stiff, but light. There is no movement to the cream, so it’s been whipped to be thick enough to hold its shape. I take little dabs and dot my face before massaging it into my face and neck and boy does it feel good when I do!

I wish I had a better way to articulate how this cream feels on my skin,  but the best way I can describe it is that it feels “wet” or moisturizing, but leaves behind little to no sheen. This is 100% non-greasy and vanishes into the skin. My skin feels extremely hydrating when using this which will be super helpful as I just decided to start using Differin on my face. I know that extreme dryness can happen when you use strong retinoids so I’ll be prepared and hopefully won’t go through a very dry phase like I did when I used to use tretinoin.

I’m very pleased with how this feels on my skin and how my skin looks while using it, and only made me more curious about some of their other products. I also got my hands on the Ultimate Whipped Hydration Kit which includes a smaller travel-sized face butter along with two of their Whipped Argan Oil body butter in unscented and apricot. The body butters have some differences in their formula as they include avocado oil and white tea extract but still have a very similar feel and finish to them. It’s a great started set if you’d like to dip your toe in the brand and not invest in full-sized items.

I find that I can use the body butter in the current season, but would probably love them more for Winter. The apricot-scented one smells very pretty and light. If apricot is not your scent, the actual JM site has several more naturally-derived scented options, each sounding more enticing than the next!

You can find Josie Maran products in quite a few places but I linked some for you to make it easy!
