Bath Time Bliss From AHAVA

It’s been so long since I’ve used AHAVA, but when I saw they were available on Skinstore.com I thought it would be fun to grab some things that I remember enjoying. Which, by the way, guys, I have partnered with Skinstore to give my readers a sweet 25% discount on *most* brands available in the store – AHAVA being one of them! Discounts and details on this will be listed at the end of this post!

So back to AHAVA, which is a skincare company that makes dead sea mineral products for face and body. The entire premise of the brand is based on the unique skincare benefits discovered while people would enjoy time at the Dead Sea. People would come for a vacation and slather themselves in the mud found at the shore, and then take a dip into the salty waters for a “float”.

The Dea Sea is so salty that fish and plants aren’t found there, but its extreme salinity and high levels of minerals make it an attractive destination for its wellness benefits. Dead Sea salts and minerals can help improve a variety of skin ailments like psoriasis, eczema, and have been shown to even help those dealing with inflammatory or auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. What makes it even more unique is that there are minerals found in the dead sea that can’t be found anywhere else!

Our body uses minerals to do a variety of functions like making enzymes and hormones and keeping our heart, brain, bone, and muscles working properly. Specific minerals like magnesium help keep our skin barrier functioning and reduce inflammation, while bromide, sodium, and zinc all find their place in benefiting our bodies.

Overall, I love the sound of using Dead Sea products, because my skin could use help staying hydrated, and I do a lot of heavy training so reducing inflammation is important to me.

The AHAVA Mineral Shower Gel was new to me, but because I wanted to get the full benefits of what the Dead Sea has to offer, I got the shower gel, the liquid sea salt, and body lotion. This gentle, clear bath gel has a delicate scent that I can only detect if I open the tube outside of the shower. Also, it contains aloe vera extract to keep skin hydrated along with AHAVA’s signature Osmoter; a mineral catalyst in each of AHAVA’s products that enhances skin moisture levels, and draws nutrients to the outer layers of our skin.

I find that I need very little of this product to produce a good amount of foaming action for a full body wash. While the tube is only 6.8 fl oz, it should last a long time because you only need a nickel or dime-sized amount to get it started. If you care for something with more vibrant scent descriptions, they have a few options on the AHAVA site

Near the end of my shower, I’ve been using AHAVA Liquid Dead Sea Salt. I remember using this over a decade ago and both my husband and I at the time LOVED how it made our skin feel. I find this to be the most unique product of them all! A thin gel of concentrated Dead Sea salts and minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium condition, smooth and hydrate the skin like no other. I live in the desert. I need all the skin hydration help it can take! It also contains detoxifying Dunaliella Algae which is rich in antioxidants and strengthens the skin immunity against infections.

I do admit that it stings just a touch in places where I obviously have nicked myself shaving but nothing terrible. It goes away quickly – basically by the time I finish slathering it on my skin. I let it sit for a few minutes and rinse off. I feel like my skin can go without additional moisturizer when I use this stuff. There are plenty of times I am rushing or simply doing too many things at once and forget to put on body lotion. My legs can become….scaley if I do that too often. But this stuff? Somehow, it does it Dead Sea magic and my skin doesn’t become scaled at all!

It says it also helps with muscle soreness and inflammation. I’m not sure I step out of the shower fully refreshed with zero soreness after my intense training sessions, but I do feel good after my shower!

And while I feel I could skip moisturizer half of the time when I use the liquid salt, I still ENJOY using a body lotion like AHAVA’s Mineral Body Lotion. I think this lotion smells like fresh laundry to me — and has a pretty potent scent to it –nothing overpowering but compared to the other products this definitely has fragrance. I find it to be fast-absorbing and dries down nicely without leaving you feeling greasy or slippery.

AHAVA thought to also include aloe vera in this lotion for its hydrating abilities, along with their Osmoter that envelops the skin in its skin-loving minerals.I do love how it feels while applying and how my skin feels afterward — but I do think that the scent could be kicked down a bit. There are other scented versions from AHAVA that I am curious about, but still teetering on maybe, maybe not. The lotion is also quite pricey compared to other body lotions that I use frequently. So this one is more of a luxurious treat for the skin until it runs out.

You can find a huge assortment of AHAVA products at Skinstore.com — and you can save 25% on this brand (along with many, many others) by using code: CLAUDIA25  – no end date as of now!

Have you tried anything from AHAVA before? I’d love to hear if you had a good experience with any products of theirs that I should give a try!
