Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
If you’ve been on the hunt for a rich, creamy, protective body butter, then look no further, I found one. Josie Maran recently sent me their Intensive Daily Repair Body Butter, the first from their new Argan Apothecary. It’s meant to restore and offer relief for dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin with its unique plant-based formula.
JM Formulated this rich, creamy protective butter to offer an alternative to using steroids or cortisones for relief when it comes to dry, tight, itchy, or irritated skin. I don’t know if any of you guys have used steroids or cortisones before, but they do even up thinning the skin and can make things worse over time so I hate when I’ve to use them.
Intensive Daily Repair Body Butter is made with 0.8% Colloidal oatmeal Active FDA-approved OTC [over-the-counter] to offer true relief for irritated skin. Colloidal oatmeal is commonly used to treat dry, itchy skin as it acts as an anti-inflammatory while simultaneously helping lock moisture. Its protective barrier helps prevent water loss on the skin, which keeps the skin more calm.
Aloe juice and 100% argan oil are included in the body for their skin healing benefits. Aloe Juice has long been used for soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits on dry, burnt, or irritated skin. Organic argan Oil contains antioxidants and skin-loving omega fatty acids that function as ceramides to build up healthy skin barrier again. Shea butter is also in the mix.
The texture of this butter is absolute perfection. A whipped, but still silky thick butter that you can very easily dip your fingers into. If you tip the jar over nothing will spill out because it’s that thick. The jar itself is pretty heavy since it’s glass and large.
The cream absorbs nicely and doesn’t leave behind a sticky or greasy feel at all. You do feel some sort of protective layer on your skin but it feels nice on. I like to use this on my hands since they get so dry from the gym, and have been using it on my face in a small spot that I’ve been getting a flare-up. My hands and cuticles in particular are so much more comfortable when I use it.
And for my face, well, it’s not intended for the face, but I use just the tiniest amount since it’s near the inner eye/ eyebrow area and I can say it helps stop the itch. All-day prior, I would be very aware of that area of my face because it either felt dry, or itchy, or I’d feel it getting bumpy or SOMETHING and would just keep touching it. Because the cream relieves the itch I can keep my hands off it and hopefully, the flare will go away soon. I haven’t been able to figure out what it could be from, it just happened the week I was sick so maybe it’s related that way.
I know the brand likes to stay in eco-packaging but I think it would be helpful if they made some sort of travel size available for being on the go, maybe a jar size that fits in a purse. Or a squeezy metal tube. I don’t know. Right now, the best alternative for THAT would be a travel size of First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair cream which can be soothing for dry, irritated skin. I will say the Josie Maran cream has a much more luxurious feel to it compared to FAB’s Ultra Repair Cream, but I find it a safe alternative that I can fit in my bag.
