Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
Remember the days of constantly using harsh products on our skin in hopes of making it look better? Only to discover that we were doing damage and creating more issues for ourselves? Ha! When I think of the stuff I used to use on my skin! As I got older and wiser I started switching to more gentle products. One that would nourish and enhance my skin’s own natural ability to protect itself. There are a few I rotate between, but Pacifica beauty was kind enough to send me their Vegan Ceramide line to try and it sounded like something my skin would enjoy.
The Vegan Ceramide line is designed for sensitive skin types and is the first skincare collection from Pacifica beauty that avoids all use of any fragrance. Vegan ceramides are the main feature of this line and are included to help restore and strengthen the skin barrier. The packaging is noteworthy as well. The tubes are made from recyclable sugar case bio-resin and is 50% PCR. The bottles are glass and substantial.
But what are vegan ceramides exactly? Ceramides are lipids (or fats) found in the skin that help us keep moisture in while keeping the bad stuff out. Pacifica’s Vegan Ceramide line includes plant-based ceramides to achieve this while marshmallow extract and calendula soothe and calm reactive skin. What’s great is that the line is recognized by the National Eczema Foundation as a suitable choice for people with sensitive skin.
The line has quite a few products to it, but I’ve only tested a couple since I’m using up other things right now. But happy to see that they are trying to cover all corners of what us skincare lovers need.
The Vegan Ceramide Extra Gentle Face Wash is the first product I tried. I’ve been keeping this in the shower mostly since I’m nearing the end of my bottle of Fresh’s Soy Cleanser. The pictures on the Pacifica site make it look like this will create lots of foam while washing but I haven’t experienced that myself. Which is fine, but I don’t know how they’re creating that much foam while washing their face. It’s a pearlized white gel that comfortably spreads across the skin and produces some bubbles, just not a lot. I love this option for after the gym when all I need to do is remove some sweat and dirt. It’s very comforting and washes away without leaving your skin feeling dry and tight — even in this arid desert weather.
It did mostly okay removing makeup but didn’t stand a chance up to any of the mascaras I’m currently using (Beautycounter & Thrive). That said, if I’m wearing makeup, I double cleanse 99% of the time and just wanted to tests its ability to remove makeup. I ended up coming out of the shower with heavy raccoon eyes so I had to wash again with my favorite cleansing balm, Farmacy’s green clean.
Will I continue to use this? Absolutely. It’s a great cleanser and my skin enjoys it. It’s also only $10 and can be found in local stores so I think this is a great find for those with sensitive skin that won’t break the bank! (Found at PacificaBeauty and Target)
The Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Lotion is the other product I’ve been using from the line. I really like this one. It has a nice thick consistency as you pump it out from the frosted lavender glass bottle and spreads like a dream. My skin is normal leaning toward dry and it suits my skin on most days. If I feel I need a little more moisture then I add 1-2 drops of facial oil and I’m set. I find it to be fast-absorbing and thought it looked good under makeup so I’m going to continue to rotate this one in while I finish others.
I imagine this will be a good choice during summer too. Thick enough to spread easily, but thin enough to feel lightweight on the skin. I imagine the jar of cream will feel a bit heavier and maybe a good choice for nighttime. It’s also only $16! (Found at PacificaBeauty and Target)
The remaining products from the vegan ceramide line are sitting in a box, waiting for me to throw into the mix. My interest is piqued because I find the cleanser and the lotion a good match for me. I also really appreciate that it’s an affordable, fun, and conscious brand as well.
So what’s next for me to try from the line? Well, there’s the Vegan Ceramide Facial Oil which is at the top of my list. I mean, do you even live in the desert if you don’t own and use facial oils? Ha. My face needs them so I hope I like it.
And well, I’m a sucker for serums. So why wouldn’t I want to give one a try the Vegan Ceramide Serum too? Something hydrating is always nice. I need all the hydration!
Other products include: Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Cream, Vegan Ceramide Barrier Eye Cream, Vegan Ceramide Hydration Fill Undereye & SMile Jelly Patches

Big fan of ceramides here. I will definitely try some products from this line. Are there body care products, too?
right now just for face! But I do think that would be a good way to extend the line since there is always a market for fragrance-free sensitive skin products!
That cleanser sounds particularly appealing to me!
Hi, Claudia - I saw this line at Target last week but didn't stop to look closely. Now that you've given feedback on it, I will definitely be trying it. Thanks for giving us the scoop! - Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
I'm so happy to hear it's fragrance free. I get emails from Pacifica and delete them because the ones I tried in the past were too heavily fragranced. The moisturizer sounds good for summer especially.
