Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
As a newer consultant for Beautycounter, I am given the opportunity to purchase new products before members and general customers. It’s a good way for us to familiarize ourselves with products and get a hands-on feel for what it really does. There has been a lot of chatter about this one particular product since the holidays and it finally went live this week!
Beautycounter Reflect Effect AHA Smoothing Facial Mask is going to rock your world friends. I feel like I’m the queen of exfoliators. I think a lot of us feel that way. We all love a satisfying scrub or exfoliation for super smooth skin and I’ve been chasing that feeling since my 20s. I’ve tried countless scrubs, peels, and masks that are…..just okay. But today, I want to share about this mask that rivals the results of what you could get at a professional facial.
So if more even skin texture, more even tone, and dramatic smoothness sound appealing to you, then read all about it.
The major players in this mask are familiar ingredients. But together, make this a truly extraordinary mask. Chemical exfoliators like 10% glycolic acid and 10% phytic acid help remove dry, dead, or flaking skin to reveal a smoother complexion. Bamboo particles fulfill our scrubbing needs by acting as a gentle but effective physical exfoliator to increase the smoothing power of this mask.
Why bamboo particles and not another familiar exfoliator like walnut or coconut shell? Or poly beads? Polybeads have the right shape for exfoliating compared to walnut or coconut shell but don’t do our oceans any favors. Crushed shell options are uneven and too abrasive causing microtears. Yikes. Upon further research, I found articles saying bamboo stem powder is high in silica which can boost collagen production. Win!
At first glance, it looks like a clear gel mask with tons of bubbles within. It has no fragrance but does have a slight scent to it if you get your nose close enough to the jar. You can’t see any bamboo particles in the bubbly-looking mask, but they’re in there! The packaging feels luxe with a heavy frosted turquoise glass jar, and the matching silicone tool is color-coordinated.
I purchased the mask with the recommended Reflect Effect Facial Tool to get the full experience. The silicone tool is going to become quite handy for any masks I do. One end is a spatula to apply product, and the other end is dual-sided for removing and massaging in product.
The mask is expected to last you around 30 uses and you can use it 1-2 per week. I personally use Differin 4-5 times a week (a retinoid) so my skin can handle this once per week with no issues.
The mask can be applied thin. Much thinner than I had initially applied and wish I didn’t waste any of it. I don’t feel any tingling or stinging which is nice because you need to keep the mask on for approximately ten minutes. As it dries down you begin to see the bamboo particles stuck on your face.
When it hits ten minutes, grab your Reflect Effect tool, splash some warm water on your face and the tool, and use the bristle side to massage and remove the mask off your face.
I had a real WOW moment here, friends. A true WOW. My skin already gets a helping hand in exfoliation from using Differin regularly…but this mask takes things to baby booty skin smooth levels. I could NOT stop touching my face!!! But get this….it gets even better…
Two days later? I still had that extreme smoothness with ZERO irritation. Four days later? Still dramatically smooth. Please excuse me while my head explodes. How is this possible? I can’t even think of a professional facial I’ve gotten that makes my skin that smooth for that long. Can you imagine using this weekly? My mind goes wild!
Highly recommend. Highly. Want to give this mask a try? First-time customers can save 20% on their first order by using code: CleanForAll20
Don’t pass this one up! This is a mask is the secret to smooth skin and I can’t keep it to myself!

Oh, I NEED this mask in my life! I love gentle exfoliating masks that do the job without irritating the skin! Thanks for the review, Claudia!
I usually avoid any mask with particles, but this one sounds like it could work for my sensitive dry skin, too.
