Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
It’s Spring and that means it’s time for some swaps, skincare swaps that is, and Farmacy Beauty is one of my long-time favorite brands to rely on for quality skincare. Not only do they put out great products that my skin adapts well to, they are also a model brand in terms of sustainability and giving something back to the world aside from products.
Did you know that Farmacy has been working hard to make its packaging 100% waste-free by 2022? Their packaging is made from 100% recycled material and can be recycled again. Farmacy also pledges to use only conflict-free ingredients in all their formulations which makes my heart happy. Farmacy also has partnered with Feed America, and has made a commitment to donate over 10 Million meals to those in need, starting back in 2021 where 1.5 million meals were the goal and 6 million for the year 2022. So they do some really great things not only in skincare but for humanity as well.
Now that I’ve praised the brand for all the good it does and keeps doing, let’s discuss my favorite lightweight options I’m reaching for lately.
I’ve tried the Filling Good serum in the past and I remember thinking “this HA serum is a notch above the rest”. I love using hyaluronic acid serums daily. It’s a daily must for me living in the desert.
But Filling Good is different and I’ll tell you why. Not only does it contain multiple forms of hyaluronic acid to hydrate different layers of the skin, but it also acts as a wrinkle filler too.
This plumping serum uses vegan collagen peptides that are supposed to be 200X more effective than marine collagen in collagen synthesis, and encapsulated thyme extract which has been found to reduce lines with 60 days of use. Amino acids, glycerin, and Farmacy’s antioxidant-rich honey blend round out this must-have serum formula.
The serum does have a unique scent to it, which my nose says is a mixture of honey and thyme but it does dissipate after application. I find myself wanting to pump more per use simply because it feels so good on the skin, but I try to hold back since this HA serum is an investment compared to my others. I LOVE this serum, but at $44 a bottle, I really try to be mindful of how much I use since I use it twice a day.
Gluten-free, phthalate-free, synthetic fragrance-free. Vegan and cruelty-free.
The newest product release from Farmacy has been a pretty big hit from what I’ve heard from friends! Their new 10% Waterless Vitamin C Serum has such a beautiful finish to it and feel to it but also visibly reduces the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation — something my face needs help with!
The silky texture of the product is what makes it stand out from the rest. It’s not wet, like a hydrating serum, but does move like water if dropped on the back of my hand. As you massage it into the skin it takes an almost dry oil feel to it. Somewhat velvety, leaving less drag on the skin but without any overt sheen or shine to the skin. If you prefer serums that vanish into the skin, this is the one for you. It totally disappears into the skin within minutes.
10% L-Ascorbic acid, alpha-arbutin and ferulic acid are the key active ingredients in this spot-fading serum and I think they were excellent choices to couple together. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is well known to fade spots, promote collagen synthesis, and can inhibit melanin production. But did you know that alpha-arbutin is known to fade spots and even tone? And Ferulic acid is really the ingredient I get excited about. (is that weird?) Ferulic acid is a powerful antioxidant that actually enhances the effects of other antioxidants, like Vitamin C! It’s like the skincare BFF every antioxidant ingredient needs!
My friend Jen from My Beauty Bunny has been raving about this serum since she’s been seeing results — and when someone you know says they see results, it makes it THAT much more enticing to stick with. I only just started so I need more time with mine!
Bonus: For every purchase of this serum, Farmacy will donate 5 meals through the Feeding America program!
Phthalate-free, mineral oil-free, fragrance-free and cruelty-free
Honey Drop is Farmacy’s lightweight moisturizer. While I can use their rich Honey Halo through half of the year, at one point it’s simply too heavy for 100+ weather. What’s great is that while this is a much more lightweight option, it still packs quite a punch in hydrating and moisturizing the skin.
Farmacy made sure to include three different types of hyaluronic acid in this moisturizer to work on multiple layers of the skin, along with their proprietary honey blend that is frequently seen in a lot of their products.
If you look closely, this Honey Drop has little beads in it. Like a boba moisturizer! Those little beads are bits of extremely nourishing cupacau butter that offer long-lasting hydration and lock in moisture. But it doesn’t stop there, superfoods like royal jelly, propolis, and fermented soy replenish the skin and offer amino acids that work in multiple ways to hydrate the skin, protect it from free-radical damage and reduce signs of aging.
This moisturizer has no distinguishable scent to it, but the ingredients do list “Aroma (natural flavor)”. It smells like……moisturizer. Face product. There really is nothing to it, but there is, if that makes sense! I think those who are sensitive to smells wouldn’t think twice about it.
All three of these skincare products are in current rotation in my AM and PM routines. I do wish the Filling Good came in a more jumbo-sized bottle as I tend to go through it faster than anything else. I could also see this being developed into a body serum because of the way it makes my skin feel..well, it’s fantastic.
The unique feel of the waterless vitamin C serum is a very nice change from the somewhat oilier vitamin C serum I use now. It’s fine, but I think more people would be inclined to use THIS one instead because it truly vanishes into the skin within minutes.
And I love a good lightweight moisturizer that offers enough hydration and moisturization to get me through most of the day. That’s something that is important to me being a desert dweller. I also like that this one is sometimes found in their value kits, so you can try minis before you commit to a full size.
