Colorescience Barrier Pro Line
Two Pixi Beauty posts back to back — it’s been a long time since Pixi has been on my radar this much, but when the products are good, we must share! Today is an unsuspecting product — one that I didn;t know existed or that it would be useful to me. It was sent via PR with a note letting me know it was one of their current favorites, so of course, I had to try. I introduce to you, the Pixi Beauty Glow Tint Cushion compact.
We remember cushion compacts from the past, don’t we? I feel like they’ve risen in popularity from time to time with trends that ebb and flow. Cushion compacts typically house a liquid foundation that is applied with an accompanying compact pad in the case. There is a cushion inside the compact that is soaked in product and you just press into it and press onto the face. I remember really loving the It Cosmetics Veil Cushion Compact which I think eventually got discontinued but looked amazing on the skin.
This cushion compact from Pixi is a little different. The application process and packaging is exactly the same. The difference is the end result. It Cosmetics was a full foundation. Pixi Beauty Glow Tint Cushion is used to brighten the complexion with or without additional makeup.
The formula promises to adapt to the complexion and be universally flattering, while also providing a seamless, smooth finish. I supposed you could try and use this as a full face foundation but I didn’t like using it that way.
Pixi Beauty Glow Tint Cushion also has skincare benefits to it! Not only does it act as makeup to brighten the complexion, but it also contains ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier, hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, and niacinamide which addresses skin texture and discoloration.
I haven’t seen one person demo this product before so I really went in blindly when testing. My first test was using it all over my face. I was terrified of the very peachy color the product appeared to be, but I just had to tell myself to trust the process. I went ahead and applied it to my entire face almost as a primer keeping it pretty sheer all over and then went back for another layer around the eyes.
Too much. WAY too much even for a sheer product. It didn’t look BAD but it didn’t look right either. So I redid it and focused on just around my eyes and a little of my forehead — places we would expect to see brightened high points in direct light. Much better. Much, much better. In fact, I didn’t feel the need to follow up with concealer at all and went straight to my foundation.
I love how thin this feels on the skin. It really feels like nothing is on the skin, and as someone who deals with concealer pooling in the creases of my under eyes, this was a nice change. This also seemed to produce the same results I’d get from using my Colorescience Total Eye 3-in-1, or L.A Girl cool pink color corrector. The Colorescience product has its own benefits beyond color correction, but not everyone can afford to invest in their products. The L.A Girl color corrector works great BUT it can get very messy since a lot of products can come out at once.
This was a very pleasant surprise getting to try this product and I know I’m going to keep it in rotation. I think my biggest question is how this works for all skin tones. It says universally flattering, and I can agree it worked for me who is light-medium neutral — but I’d be curious how it looks on people on the end ranges of skin tones.

I have used several other cushion products, like a few from Shu Uemura, and I absolutely love the texture! These sound nice, and certainly far more affordable!
Is there an in person store where one could try it? I know it says it’s universally flattering, but I tend to look orange sometimes 😅. It does sound amazing!
Though this product is in the cushion format, it reminds me of Bobbie Brown's (her new brand, something Road) brightening face balm. Sadly, I didn't like it. I thought this was a blush in cushion form when I started to read your post. I would have liked that better. Nevertheless, it is fun to try new things like this
