#MASHNAILS Looking for a new Matte Top Coat? Found it!

I discovered Mash Nails while wasting time on twitter (tee hee), and found a cool new shop for nail art. Mash Nails carries a line of nail treatments, top coats, tools, stamps, rhinestones and 3D nail art that could keep a nail art addict busy for days!

The company was created in 2009 when a team of nail art experts saw that the nail art supplies out there looked, well, cheap. And blah. They wanted to give us nail lovers good stuff. Salon quality stuff, all on one website. Mash Nails also has a blog updating us on nail trends, and features tutorials on the YouTube Channel! You can even chat with them on twitter (like I did).

I was sent their Matte Top Coat for review and eagerly awaiting its arrival. Matte top coats are an interesting thing because it was only within the past year that I remember matte finishes for nails being “pretty”…and now it’s everywhere! I had purchased two other matte top coats in the past and disliked how one smelled (like it could burn my house down by just the fumes) or that the expensive brand just didn’t work at all. For reals? Yup. What a waste, I know. So you can see I was hoping this one would top out over the others.

I would always prefer to buy matte top coats instead of matte colors because that would get ridiculously expensive and why bother when you can do it this way, it just makes sense. So hooray for top coats that allow me to do more things on the cheap!

I tested it out over a super glittery manicure I recently did, and over some new polishes I just ordered online. Unfortunately, a matte top coat does nothing for a glitter nail. I was hoping for some sort of change but it didn’t do anything I wanted, so stick with non-glitters for matte top coats. Here are a few swatches I did over Catrice Cosmetics Polish. It gave the originally wet and shiny look a nice velvet matte look. I LOVED how the orange came out. Hooray for the big swing into the orange family this summer. I love it!

I attempted to do some nail art JUST with the matte top coat. If I had pulled the tape of sooner it MAY have worked. You can see the depth change where the matte is. But still kinda cool!
I tried some more tape nail art and think the french tip would look cool. The other nails…not so much, just meh.

Mash Nail products can be found online at their store: www.mashnails.com or on Amazon. You can chat with the friendly team on Twitter at @MASHnails , Facebook, and visit their youtube channel by searching: MASHNAILS for a ton of tutorials!

What do you think about Mash Nails? Have you tried the brand before? Is there something you see in their shop you wanna try? Share in the comments below!
