[Review] Isle of Dogs: Rehab For Tangled Hair Sam Dog Edition

I have been dying to do a review of some doggie products for a while now and when Beauty Collection had their 50% off POP-UP sale (starting this weekend until the end of the year) I bought little Sam Dog an Isle of Dogs kit for tangled hair. Little Sam is so cute and he had such a good time letting me test out some products on him.

Isle of Dogs is a dog grooming line that was developed almost 20 years ago and uses some of the best raw ingredients out there that addresses each dog’s uniqueness. The key to some of their ground-breaking solutions? The addition of cold-pressed evening primrose oil (EPO) and Royal Jelly. Fancy Schmancy, no? I thought so. In addition to that, their formulas are high in proteins, lipids (good for healthy skin and hair) and vitamins for a shiny, healthy coat. Because Isle of Dogs has such a reputation for high quality grooming pet products.

Evening Primrose Oil has been tested and shown to improve certain dog skin conditions, particularly in a shampoo, which can usually strip our little doggies of normal moisturization levels in their hair and skin. Sam Dog has pretty sensitive skin so we usually go with something with oatmeal, and a loooong conditioning rinse. Evening Primrose Oil was something new to him and myself. I trust that Beauty Collection would only sell something that would make my puppy even more gorgeous.

The kit that I bought runs around $23 and I got it for 50%. Sweet Deal! I got the Rehab for Tangled Hair. The kit includes a pre & post detangling conditioning mist, Shampoo with No. 10 Evening Primrose Oil and the No. 51 Heavy Management Conditioner. The directions say to start off with mist and gently comb out any bad knots. I usually have my boyfriend do this since he he really ENJOYS brushing the dog out. While he was doing that, I was setting up Sam’s Spa and Drying areas. Yes, they are designated areas, but necessary when you have a wet little dog that loves to dry himself off on everything in the house. The bed, the couches, the carpet. Everywhere!

I liked the misting spray it did make his hair feel silky before even giving him a bath. The shampoo had a really light scent that my boyfriend described as a “spa” smell and not like his usually products that usually have a higher perfume scent like banana or coconut. I think I used half of the bottle of conditioner on Sam. But I thought he would really like to have his skin moisturized on his belly as well as his fluffy face.

this is sam’s spa area. warm cozy water, a comfortable sprayer, and rubber matting 🙂

All products easily rinsed off and allowed for major fluffing out once dry. (I do blow dry him just a little since he likes to curl into a ball and nap right after keeping his belly wet underneath. If

you have a dog, you know this. It stinks like wet dog an hour later. no bueno )

I loved this kit, I suppose the only thing that I may have issue with is the price. At $23 for a set I would imaging the bottles to be a bit bigger since I have worked in personal care labs and know that it wouldn’t hurt to have a bigger bottle with this formula. Would I use it again? Definitely. Would I buy it again? If I found it on sale, definitely. This dog gets a weekly bath at home from us and then goes to the Salon every 5 weeks.

i love my little doggie!

This dog gets more pampering at the salon more than anyone else in this house! LOL. But with a face like this, how could it not deserve it?

Do you have a little fluff bear like I do? Share in the comments below or tweet a pic to me! I love dogs (or pets really) in general!

XOXO
