[Review] Lumavera Oxygenating Masque

**this review is about a product I received gratis at the Be Well Expo**

It been about a month or so since I attended the Be Well Expo and have only scraped the surface of products to test out. Seriously, if you didn’t see it on my facebook page, it was insane what my friends and I came home with…bags and bags of stuff!

One product that struck my fancy was the Lumavera Oxygenating Masque. This little pump bottle has become my best friend over the past month and I hope it doesn’t run out anytime soon! Lumavera is a fairly new brand (to me) that uses Plant Cell Technology, Peptides, Fruit,Vegetable and Marine extracts to support healthy, beautiful skin. No Sulfates. No Parabens. No artificial fragrances or coloring, just pure goodness that your skin soaks up. I was a little concerned when it said it’s for all skin types because I have a hard time believing something can suit practically everyone….but read on to find out how it faired with me.

The Lumavera Oxygenating Masque gently exfoliates skin with the help of mucor miehi extract, while improving the texture and overall moisture levels of the skin. When you look at the list of ingredients on this thing I was surprised that the first ingredient wasn’t water–which is usually the base of most products out there. This product uses aloe extract as its base which the skin absorbs much more easily than water. Already ahead of the gang here. As you continue to scroll through the list there are A LOT of extracts listed also which I’m always on the fence about. Most of the time I look at extracts as fluff in a formula. Did you know some are just there to make the formula sound more pretty and enticing? Well I believe the extracts in this formula do something.

I apply this mask usually after my nightly shower so that my skin is clean and pores are “as open” as they’ll ever be. I start out with a good 4-5 pumps into my fingertips and begin to apply to my face and just past my jawline. The serum to bubbling masque gel applies like a cushion-y, slick, non sticky gel on the skin. Id say within 10 seconds you begin to see the “oxygenating” action this masque can produce. Prepare to be mesmerized by the cooling, crackling feel of the masque bubbling up and clearing out those pores. Did you know that oxygen helps kill bacteria which then promotes healthier skin? Think about it. A simple example would be smokers who don’t get all the clean oxygen they need end up with duller, dryer skin compared to a non-smoker. Our bodies (and skin)

crave oxygen and this masque gives you an added dose with its bubbling action. It actually tickles sometimes!

It only takes about 5-10 minutes of wearing the masque before you can see the work is done. As the gel sits on the skin it turns from a milky gel, to a pure white thick layer of foam. As the formula sinks into your skin the bubbles pop away, and you begin to have patches of where the masque has completed it work. It’s actually a lot of fun to use and I scare my boyfriend each time I come down the stairs with it on!

But after? After you skin feels so nice. You do need to rinse the masque off, I don’t think another cleanser would be necessary. I have no irritation whatsoever. And I have highly sensitive skin around my mouth–to the point where I just don’t bother putting any product on or around my lips at times. Even with this mask painted on right up to the lip line I was OK. My forehead looks a little flushed when I wipe it off, but once I put moisturizer on its gone within minutes.

I love this masque. I love the airless pump bottle because you can see how much you have left and I’ll get to use it to the last drop. I love the oxygenating action because it feels nice when its doing its work. I love that the formula is chock full of healthy stuff that feels like its doing something for my skin. And for all you cruelty-free product users — this has a big NO ANIMAL TESTING note on the back of the box. And totally not important… but I love the sexy look and feel of the brand. They’ve got me!

You can purchase the Lumavera Oxygenating Masque online at their site, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else yet. I think they are a fairly new company and I’m excited to see how the rest of their products will pan out.
