Biossance Sunshine Set

My first encounter with the brand Biossance was a successful one. It only took one lip balm for me to say to myself that this was a brand I needed to explore more, so here we are. The Biossance brand strives for sustainability by creating and utilizing the benefits of bio-engineered renewable, sugarcane-derived squalane saving sharks from being slaughtered for the squalane they produce. On top of that, Biossance strives for clean, and free of over 2000+ questionable ingredients in their formulas.

About Biossance

It doesn’t stop there though. Biossance thought of everything from top to bottom when it comes to being a sustainable brand. The product packaging is designed to be recyclable, and the outer packaging is made from renewable sugarcane paper. They have also partnered with carbonfund.org in efforts to help with reforestation, and offsetting CO2 output created by the company.

Overall, the brand is very impressive, so I was really excited to try this limited edition Sunshine Set collaboration between Biossance and Reese Witherspoon! Gift sets like these are great for exploring brands because you always get more bang for your buck. The cost of the set is $79 but the value is $116 — so let’s talk about what’s in the set.

The Oil

I laugh when I think back to when I was terrified to put oil on my face. Now? Bring it on, by the barrel! Biossance Vitamin C Rose Oil has been such a welcome addition to my skincare routine. I only use 3-4 drops per use but it gives my skin a silky feel while deeply moisturizing the skin. Elasticity is boosted while vitamin C brightens the complexion and increases radiance. This has felt really nice over Volition Beauty Celery Green Cream for daytime usage lately. I have also mixed this with Drunk Elephants F Balm for nighttime use and have encountered no issues with piling or being weird with other products used.

Purchase the oil alone:  Sephora or Biossance

The Sunscreen

The Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen was my favorite product in this set.  Mineral sunscreens can be tricky in some ways. They can be thick, hard to spread, leave a white cast, and ruin clothes. Let me tell you that this sunscreen feels NOTHING like sunscreen and everything like a comforting lotion.

Biossance of course, formulated this sunscreen to be reef safe and uses non-nano zinc oxide as its protectant. It’s a very lightweight feeling and is moisturizing which is helpful for my normal-to-dry skin. I have an oily-skinned friend who is a little concerned with pore-clogging but I can tell you it’s worked okay for my type of skin! I don’t mind a little sheen! Truly the most lotion-like sunscreen I have felt and I will definitely repurchase it if I ever run out of sunscreens. This is NOT the sunscreen to use if you are swimming or sweating a lot though, it isn’t water-resistant, so keep that in mind!

The Lip Balm

The Rose Vegan Lip Balm is something I’ve brought up on the blog before. You know I love it because it helps prevent chapped lips far better than other lip balms I have laying around the house. It’s got a smooth gel feel to it and feels slightly tacky to the touch but I don’t notice it at all when I have it applied to my lips. This fragrance/flavor-free lip balm contains squalane to nourish, HA (hyaluronic acid) to hydrate and plump, ceramides to strengthen the skin, and wakame algae that boosts plumping action.

I have three of these lip balms and would happily gift these because of how well it works and the price tag. Purchase the lip balm alone:   Sephora or Biossance

Overall, I am very happy with everything I’ve tried from the brand and would hope to try some of their serums and cleansers next. Everything performed beautifully and as expected. I’ve had friends tell me how much they’ve enjoyed Biossance which further confirms my feeling about this brand.
