Pixi Beauty Glycolic Skincare Trio

pixi beauty glycolic skincare review by iliketotalkblogNormally, I wait months before I share about a skincare product because it really does take time to see the results of using a new skincare regimen – but I’ve been so impressed with this one I’m using that I couldn’t wait to share with you guys! Have you heard of Pixi Beauty? It’s actually been around for over a decade, but it was only until now that I’ve got to try out their skincare line and it’s AH-MAZ-ING! The brand recently sent me their glycolic skin trio and if your skin is in need of a little revamp you’ll want to read on!

Glycolic acid is one of those skincare ingredients that may sound scary but it can do some serious improvement for the skin. It’s an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that works amazingly well for skin exfoliation. So if you’re looking for anti-aging and skin brightening skincare, this is one ingredient you need to incorporate into your routine. Not only does it reveal the younger skin underneath, it also boosts collagen production which is known to be a key part of skin renewal. Glycolic acid can come in a variety of percentages, and you’ll need to figure out which level will work best for your skin, and sometimes you’ll need to ease into using it by using it every other day, and then every day and then every am and pm. I was already using retinoids morning and night so my skin was ready for something new but at a good useful level.

pixi beauty glycolic skincare review by iliketotalkblogPixi Beauty Glow Mud Cleanser uses a 5% glycolic concentration in a deep pore cleansing mud. Usually mud cleansers feel dry to me so I avoid them, but this didn’t dry out my skin at all. It can be used on all skin types– just be aware if you have sensitive skin or have reactive skin line mine you may be a little pink if you aren’t used to GA yet. My skin was totally fine and felt nice and clean afterwards. It’s non-foaming, so you just gently massage into the skin for about 30 seconds and rinse off. The cleanser is reasonably priced at $18 a tube and you don’t need much for it to cover your face and neck. I use it for both morning and my night shower.

pixi beauty glycolic skincare review by iliketotalkblogIn the evenings I follow with the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic To Go facial pads. This really just their famous glow tonic but in an easy to pack pre-moistened cotton pad form. Perfect if you want to throw in your gym or travel bag. It has a bit of texture to the pads so you may see even a bit more dirt come using them (something sickeningly satisfying about that). It also feels good to work these into the skin in areas where I get some pore blockage around my chin. These also use a 5% GA concentration and is alcohol free so it not drying at all! Woot! I don’t rinse my face after this step because I want to leave all that glow tonic goodness on my skin!

pixi beauty glycolic skincare review by iliketotalkblogLastly, I follow with the Pixi Beauty Overnight Renewal Serum which is the real star of the show. With a 10% glycolic acid concentration and arginine which is thought to boost collagen production, this gel serum works to reveal clearer, brighter skin overnight (without irritation). You guys….seriously, after just a few days this trio was able to unblock some pores that has been plugged FOREVER. Pimples that were lurking under the surface finally came to a head and were up and out within days. They also healed super fast. You know just as well as me that if you just try and pop a pimple that’s not ready it lingers around looking sore as hell and you regret what you did, but you can’t seem to resist. Using effective products like these stop me from doing extractions on my own because they will gently resolve these issues without my intervention. This serum will set you back only $24 and you only need 2-3 drops to cover the entire face.

By using all three products for almost three weeks I am happy to say my skin feels smoother, clearer, and I’d like to think it accepts my HA serums better because my skin is freshly and gently exfoliated on an ongoing basis. I may switch over to the liquid version of the glow tonic, but the renewal serum is my number one serum right now.

Moisturize Your Skin With MultiVitaSkin

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogEven though I don’t deal with icy weather living in Southern California, I still need to make sure my skin is properly moisturized during the winter months. Indoor heat and sometimes windy weather can leave skin feeling tight and parched. There is only so much water can do before some skincare intervention is needed, and lately MultiVitaSkin has been my go to moisturizer for the past 5 weeks.

MultiVitaSkin prides itself on a few key points. For one, it’s formulated with quality, all natural ingredients and includes a unique Omega 3-6-9 oil blend that nourishes the skin promoting a smoother, more youthful appearance. This cream also uses the powerhouse ingredient resveratrol, a known polyphenol, that acts as an antioxidant fighting the signs of again, along with a combination of vitamins to keep the skin healthy and supple. I can detect the scent of cocoa butter in the formula, which I like and enjoyed using when I was pregnant and had a gigantic belly to soothe. Now that I’m a nursing mama, clean ingredients are important to me because anything I am using will come into contact with her. I suspect this would have been a great belly lotion to have handy during those months when your skin is stretching and starts to itch.

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogThe second thing that sets this brand apart is how affordable it is. It comes in a large no frills four ounce tub for just under $40. You guys, I’ve been using this moisturizing cream morning and night everyday for five weeks and I’ve only used about a quarter of the tub. I’ve also been applying it to the top of my hands each night and love how smooth they’ve been feeling since using this. I can expect this tub to last me anywhere from 4-5 months with the amount of usage I’m used to. And while the packaging is pretty basic, you can safely assume that less of what you spend is put into packaging and more into the ingredients and formulation of the actual product.

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogI’m always a bit leary of new moisturizers, especially from brands I am unfamiliar with, but MultiVitaSkin has impressed me thus far. Not only does it moisturize my skin well, my hands feel smoother, and it caused me no break outs which is always a concern with new products. There is no doubt that I am a sucker for pretty packaging, but if a product works well then really why am I worried about what the tub looks like. It works!

Di Blasi Cosmetics

In this day in age, we are beginning to see a trend of moving toward healthier options in skincare and cosmetics and I absolutely love it!  Being pregnant, it’s now more important than ever to choose clean, natural products that will not negatively effect me or baby. However, just being pregnant isn’t the only time we should begin to consider organic, natural products…it should be all the time to keep all of us free of unnecessary chemicals in everything we use on our bodies.  Lately, I’ve been testing out a few items from Di Blasi Cosmetics, a luxury organic, natural (and cruelty free) skincare line based in Italy and I’m here to report back to you on how it worked out for me!

Di Blasi Cosmetics is the creation of Tatiana Puglisi who also thought going as natural as possible was the way to go after watching a close family member suffer from cancer.  After years of trials and tribulations, she refined the formulas to the fabulous products we see today, a multitasking makeup removing butter, a moisturizing cream, and a exfoliating bar soap.  I don’t use bar soaps often so I requested to try the makeup removing butter and moisturizing cream because these are two things I would use very often, if not on a daily basis.

The Butter Multitasking Makeup Remover is a luxe, skin conditioning treatment that comes in a heavy glass jar with scoop.  If you want to give yourself a little bit of extra luxury, you can also purchase the glass shell the jar can sit in so it looks super pretty on your vanity. What drew me to this product the most is that it is suitable for all skin types – even oily and combo which might shy away from trying something that appears to be a heavy butter.  The product appears in solid form in the jar, not cream and for sanitary reasons you definitely want to use the scoop.  I took less than a dime size scoop out and rubbed all over my face and massaged it into the skin.  Sure enough, mascara and eye makeup began to break up, and my foundation was lifted into the buttery layer on my skin.  I massaged it all in for about a minute or two and wondered how does this stuff come off?!  There are two ways, using dry cotton rounds to wipe it all away, or washing with a suggested cleansing milk. I didn’t have cleansing milk, but I do have my regular variety of face washes and opted to go the water and cleanser route to remove all traces of left over makeup and the butter. Let me tell you…not only did this remove ALL makeup (mascara, shadow, concealer and foundation), but it also left my skin feeling INCREDIBLY soft. Like baby skin soft. Which makes things difficult because with your face so clean the last thing you want to do is be pawing at it with your hands.  Let me reiterate. SO. SOFT! My skin felt moisturized, balanced and not needing any extra steps. To what do I owe the new found bay softness to? Tatiana’s blend of mango butter, shea butter, Calendula flower oil, Jojoba oil and beeswax. I never thought something with beeswax would make my skin feel like this, but she found a way!

di blasi cosmetics prickly pear and manna cream review by iliketotalkblog

Next I tried the Prickly Pear and Manna Cream after washing my face (with the butter and then a cleanser), as well as after a nice steamy shower to see how it worked in both instances. Suitable for day or night, this cream absorbs quickly into the skin and has a light, beautiful scent to it.  The full size comes in an airless pump and can also be purchased with the luxury ceramic shell display if you choose. I found that if you use too much it does take a bit longer to absorb so using a little bit at a time is the best way to go. This moisturizer left behind no greasy or heavy feel, and allowed me to put my makeup on within 10 minutes.  The prickly pear in the formula has anti-inflammatory properties while the manna (a sap) is thought to soothe, moisturize, and have anti-aging properties.  Sodium PCA and Hyaluronic acid aid in keeping the skin moisturized and holding on to that moisture while avocado oil, mango butter, shea butter and allantoin also work to keep the skin soothed and protected.

Overall I am very pleased with the two products I got to try from Di Blasi Cosmetics. I found them to be extremely moisturizing without suffocating the skin which I thought might happen with the addition of butters being used on my face. The packaging feels fancy and makes you feel like you are really giving yourself a true treat from Italy to savor.

How CUTE are these soon to be released mini bar soaps? They look like miniature presents or candy!

Do I give Di Blasi Cosmetics a thumbs up? I sure do! Even for combo (sometimes sensitive) skin types such as my own.  No break outs, no unwanted results, just soft, moisturized skin!
