Review – Nude Skincare Cleansing Facial Oil

You want me to put WHAT on my face? LOL! That’s what I thought when I was first offered to try [the] Nude Skincare Cleansing Facial Oil. As a person who likes to alternate between her Clarisonic, a glycolic wash, and a light acne wash– I was a bit nervous as to how an oil might affect my skin. I would describe my skin as combination, meaning that I get the pesky pimple here and there, but also have dry areas at the same time. However, I like the fact that this brand is 100% natural and if there is anything I can do for my skin to make it look better, I’m willing to give it a shot. Not to mention also environmentally conscious.

Nude Skincare

Nude Skincare Cleansing Facial oil was a HUGE surprise! For someone who was afraid of breaking out like crazy from putting an oil on her face, I was happy to discover that it actually “normalized” my skin. Because of the ingredients in the cleanser, it works up into a emulsion (almost like a paper towel soaking up excess oil), and definitely helped to restore moisture when I went overboard on a glycolic wash! It also works well as an awesome makeup remover without scrubbing your eyes until they hurt. Let’s take a look at some of the ingredients and explain how they helped my skin:

Soybean oil: Soy is known to be a phytoestogen. What does this mean? It is plant-based estrogen “impersonator” that helps maintain the thickness of our skin (keeping it plump), by stimulating collagen production. Whoohoo! It also has antioxidant properties. Who doesn’t like that?

Squalene oil: Squalene, which comes from either shark’s liver, or olives (in this case, olives) acts very similar to our skin’s sebum in giving us added protection. Squalene gives us antioxidant benefits–fighting nasty free-radicals, enabling us to protect our skin.

Tocopheryl Acetate: It may sound as though it’s some crazy chemical created in a lab somewhere but, this is otherwise know as Vitamin E. This fat-soluble vitamin allows your skin to “drink up” the good stuff, rather than it just resting on top of the skin’s surface and not being absorbed.  Vitamin E is yet another antioxidant that aids in keeping the soft and smooth by acting as a moisturizer.

What’s great about these ingredients? They are all bio-available, allowing your skin to recognize and utilize them to give you the maximum benefits of their use. It’s also a pretty short list of ingredients which makes it a product you feel comfortable putting on your face.

While the directions on the bottle said I should be able to wash my face with 1-2 drops I did find that a little difficult to spread out evenly and actually remove my eye makeup (I’ve been hooked on smoky eyes for a couple weeks now). I increased the amount to 2-3 drops of oil and it worked perfectly. While I still wouldn’t be able to dump my other cleansers for just this one, I definitely like including it in my skincare routine. It works wonders in maintaining my skin at the proper moisture level– and don’t feel the need to apply an additional moisturizer after using it!

You can find the cleansing oil at Beauty Collection, for a decent price of $36.00 and it comes in a cute little pump bottle made of recycled plastic. Bravo Nude! Your sustainability actions really make this product line one you can fall in love with. Now I’m ready to try the other products in the line!
