Halloween in just around the corner and I wanted to do a halloween-ey theme with blood or cobwebs. I could do green zombies but, eeh,,,maybe something a bit grown up for the office instead of cartoon faces peeking out of my peep toes. Black shatter was out, after all, I do black shatter on any given day so it wasnt “dark” enough for me.
I would have loved to have done a perfect creme black nail with a red glitter cobweb design but I didn’t have a good enough brush to do the design clean. Instead, I stuck with the gradients theme this weekend and did a red and black glitter cloud design. I found an awesome creme red and a red glitter in a red jelly that called out to me at the store. I had to use them.
Orly RidgeFiller, Sinful Colors Ruby Red, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet, Seche Vite Top Coat
I painted the nail with Ruby Red and then sponged on Black out in areas. I covered the entire nail with Red Carpet to give it some extra depth. I love the red glitter in the jelly, it makes me want to paint more things with it.
Red is difficult to clean from the skin so you may want to opt for straight acetone when cleaning up. That way the cleanup is quick and easy. Using a stiff chisel brush dipped in acetone is the quickest way for me.
What Halloween nail designs will you guys be doing? Or have you one that you found online that you want to do?
such a beautiful shade of red/black!! I love it! I vamped up my nails too, just for Halloween weekend! 🙂 I’m wearing OPI for Sephora Caffeine Fix 🙂
Hi Elaine! I’d love to enter but since I don’t live in Canada and shipping nail coulor is a pain in the @$$ I’ll just comment here! First, thank you for introducing us to a new brand, I’ve been buying OPI for the last 7 years and they’re coulors don’t last. Chipping action starts like 1 hr later. 2. If I were to win I’d pick best of the best! 3. I’m going to follow you on twitter just bc this blog of yours is awesome!
