It wasn’t until last month I started to really get into lip color, more specifically lipstick. All through high school I pretty much stuck to sheer glosses if anything at all. Then there was the nude lip pencil phase, and then a major MAC lip gloss obsession somewhere in the mix of it all. They do have pretty colors, but I couldn’t always afford to replace them at the time. I havent worn lipstick much, in fact, I literally own one lipstick prior to November’s trip to Sephora. I suppose I always liked just doing my eyes and never gave it as much thought. I now have a handful of lipsticks, glosses and stains and hope to get to feature them all at one point.
I choose my favorite two, Sephora’s Rouge Cream Lipstick and Lip Attitude Glamour Semi-Sheer Lipstick.
Sephora’s Rouge Cream is a creamy, highly pigmented moisturizing lipstick. It goes on with a satin finish. It has long-lasting power because I managed to wear it all night (out) without budging, and with light touch ups when drinking coffee at work. The color I choose was a very bright pink with blue undertones called Love Test 11. I fell in love with this color and wish I could find more ways to wear it. I have to admit, I never thought I would like it so much, but it enticed me to come back and look for other colors. A tube costs $12.00 which is decent in my opinion. Some out there are like $30, or more! For lipstick? I don’t think so. The one lipstick that I owned prior was NARS Lipstick in cat fight. I just checked the price on that one. Ha! $24. That’s probably why I only own one NARS lipstick!
and now I present…..Mauve Emotion.
The other lipstick I picked up was The Semi-Sheer in Mauve Emotion, a sheer cool raspberry color that puts just enough color on the lips while leaving them ultra moisturized. I love that this one feels more thin going on, closer to a gloss feel and less “done up”. I can see myself in pretty much all the pink colors (posted below) , and I even like the tube casing that is metallic and pretty (the other one is a solid matte black. blah.) The semi-sheer lipsticks also retail for $12 and have similar good reviews on the Sephora website.
I think if your new to lipsticks the Semi-Sheers are a safe way to go. You can add just a touch of color to your lips while still keeping a very natural look. You can also intensify them with a lip pencil.
Is there a lipstick that you just love? There are so many I want to try and I have a couple lined up so stay tuned!
