Lash Perms … Something You Never Thought You Needed Until You’ve Had One

vanity sign

This weekend I treated myself to another brow and lash service at Vanity Cosmetics. I let my brows kinda grow in as much as possible since my last appointment so they really had something to work with. Some over plucking in the past has thinned out some crucial brow shaping areas and now that I know, I try not to mess with them as much.

Well manicured brows can totally change your look. I know that I feel like I have a much more open eye with some magical “lift” going on. When the arch is in the correct place it can frame your eyes and face so that eye makeup looks even better and helps in creating contours on your face for highlighting in the right areas. But now I was ready to get my lashes permed…for the second time actually. And I couldn’t wait to see the results again! Permed Lashes give you a perfect eye-opening curl for up to 2-3 months!

The first time I got a

lash perm I had no idea what to expect. Even though they explain everything to you, your eyes are closed for the entire process, so you still don’t see whats going on. Your job is to relax, and keep your eyes shut the entire time.

I wanted to get photos of the whole process but I didn’t want to add an extra task for someone else to do WHILE they were doing my lashes. But what I can tell you is that you should come with no eye makeup on, and be prepared to keep your eyes closed for quite sometime. Your lower lashes are protected by a special tape and from that point on you just wait for the whole thing to be done with. Unfortunately for me, I’m an eye-waterer. My eyes water at just about anything done on or near them. I can’t help it. The water works come and interferes with the solutions used to make your lashes perm. If your lashes are wet with tears the glue doesn’t work. Denise, my lash technician dabbed it all away with swabs. But back to the process–so your eye lashes are painted with a glue and then attached to a silicone mold for your lashes to curl and stick to. After the lashes are glued to the mold you wait as more solution is painted on the lashes. For most, none of this will bother you. For someone who opens their eyes- you won’t want to do that, you’ll make your eyes water and it doesn’t make the process go any faster. I’ll admit, the whole process sounds kinda scary but really it isn’t and the results are crazy! Especially the first time you see it. You will say wow and fall in love with your lashes!

I took photos of my lashes and brows before the appointment. My brows look terrible. I couldn’t wait for them to be cleaned up.

My lashes never looked this good before and I could never get them like this with any kind of lash curler I’ve used. And the fact that it lasts at least two months (I got my first perm done in December 2012) is great.

If you ever consider getting a lash perm, think about adding a lash tint too because that really makes your lashes pop. I could seriously go in there ( Vanity Cosmetics) and get a handful of things done in one visit and look forward to trying their spray tan and hair cutting services in the next week.

Vanity Cosmetics is located on 13547 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423 818.385.0214
