I was on the hunt for a new face serum over the past two months and finally came across one that really seemed to fit what I was looking for, Joyal Beauty’s Timeless Skin Renewal Serum. I wanted something that was affordable, would help heal my skin, and would help fight against acne. And an added bonus, cruelty-free.
Since I moved to Orange County I decided I would go back on my serious acne medication because my skin had gotten kinda yucky since I last took a real good look at it. Serious, deep congestion that even the esthetician was shaking her head at. It was gonna be some work ahead of me and I didn’t have the cash to go in every two weeks and have her to do all the work, alas, that meant I was going to back on Atralin (tretinoin) and clear my skin well before my wedding. As a side note Atralin gives wonderful results, but can be very harsh on the skin at first and causes peeling and sensitivity. I was pretty sad about my skin again and hoped this serum would help bring it back to shape.
Joyal Beauty’s Timeless Skin Renewal Serum relies on Royal Jelly, Honey, and Bee Propolis to help renew and restore the skin. Honey is known for its humectant properties (ability to pull in moisture), while Royal Jelly and Propolis are said to help with building skin stamina, fight infection, and works as a anti-aging ingredient. I am familiar with the works of propolis and have used lip balms and toothpastes with the ingredient and believe it works. Honey, raw honey is something I use very often for facial masks, it was only royal jelly I was not familiar with. Other ingredients such as aloe vera, jojoba oil, melissa essential oil, and green tea extract also help make this formula what it is today.
I used the serum twice per day, once in the morning and once at night. The serum feels very comfortable going on- no stickiness or feeling like product is left on the skin. I truly felt like it absorbed well and left my skin feeling moisturized and smooth. I felt like it was a great primer before makeup because it didn’t take forever to dry. I often used the tiniest amount of moisturizer afterwards because you need to when using Atralin.
I didn’t experience any additional breakouts during this time, I actually felt like it soothed my skin on days when my skin was sensitive from the atralin. The unfortunate thing is that I was not able to use the product for a full four weeks to see the expected dramatic results. It wasn’t the products fault at all – I loved using it every time I was able to. Unfortunately, there are essential oils in this product that conflict with a medical condition I don’t care to share at the moment and I have been advised to stop using it. I’m going to keep the serum for use later on when I can, but for now it has to go into my stash to be a favorite for later.
I appreciate the fact that the formula is 98% natural and 72% organic. It has no parabens, sulfates, phthalates or petrochemicals (mineral oil or petroleum). I like the feel of the serum on my fingertips and on my face. I like how my skin looked after application and made some redness go down within minutes. It’s a product that I liked pretty much all around. I’m interested to see what their other products are like, such as the hyaluronic serum which is on the way to my mailbox.
