Getting The Best Shave With Shaveworks

As much as I’d love to get laser hair removal, it’s just not in the cards for me anytime soon. Shaving is a pain, but it’s the cheapest route to go so I stick to it and have for years. In all the years of shaving, I’ve tried many razor systems and products made for shaving, but there are a few that I always go back to from Shaveworks because they do the job, and do it well.

I actually didn’t discover this brand, my husband (then boyfriend) years back was using something new from Shaveworks and I ended up stealing it for myself! My husband always dealt with ingrown hairs that hurt or became perpetual breakouts because he needed to shave. Using a post-shave gel was the first “unnecessary” product that suddenly became very necessary for both of us.

The Cool Fix from Shaveworks is a lightweight blue gel that you can use on face or body to help eliminate ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness. A lot of times, post shave treatment burn like hell, but this one didn’t which is what really sold me on it. This handy blue gel works in two ways, one to exfoliate and two, to soothe the skin. Familiar ingredients like Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid gently help release trapped hairs, exfoliate the skin and kill bacteria  to eliminate the possibility of inflammation. It also uses caffeine to reduce redness leaving behind healthy looking skin. I like to use it daily if I see a problem starting and then can go back to using it every few days when I see my skin is clear. If you are wondering if I’ve tried Tend Skin, I have. But Tend Skin really, really burns and I have to brace myself for it. I don’t have to worry about that with Cool Fix.

But getting good shaving results also relies on us using the proper tools and products for our skin. Common sense like using new razors as leat weekly (get yourself on a razor subscription service) and using a product that softens hairs and helps a razor glide over the skin well. While most shave gels and creams “do the job”, I decided to give Shaveworks Pearl Souffle Shave Cream and try and really liked it! I can’t say that it feels too different from the rest, but it does have a special ingredient called Capsislow that slows the growth of new hair coming in, and glycolic acid to help with exfoliation as well. I’ve only had a couple tubes of the shave cream at different times when I’ve bought this kit from Ulta, so I can’t say for certain how well it works, but I can say it’s a nice shave cream and anything that may slow hair growth is A-OK with me!

In that kit that I buy from ULTA, there is also a Pearl Polish Dual Action Body Oil that can both be used as a body wash as well as a shaving oil. I love this vanilla scented body wash. Body oil washes feel really luxurious to me. Something fancy that I won’t use everyday because I don’t want to run out!  The oil is great for shaving helping get that razor to glide over knees, underarms or any other weird angles that we have to deal with.

The Works: Bare Perfection kit is a great great place to start with trying out this brand. When you buy the kit you get the pearl shave cream that isn’t available on it’s on on the ULTA site, not to mention you save a bit of cash versus buying each separately.

  • I have found that shave cream with hair inhibitors do work for me, so I should try Pearl Souffle. It sounds dreamy!

  • In between my laser hair, I still shave. My laser hair lasts 3-5 months. There's a new ULTA opening soon near me so I'll check this out

  • I bought The Cool Fix for my sons and it really helped them. Laser didn't last on my face so I'd never spend that much money on my legs.

  • This sounds nice. Taking notes for my next ULTA trip. I always struggle to find the right products to use while shaving.

  • Definitely intrigued by the soufle! I am a bad shaver, I don't use anything at all, just water.

  • I never use any thing special which is probably bad.. LOL! But lotion afterwards is routine! (Mainly in the summer since I can put on shorts and lotion legs + leggings are the dream team! LOL!)
