Does anyone else look at their shower like it’s their sanctuary? It doesn’t matter if it’s a morning shower or an evening one, I always look forward to it! The shower is where I get to be alone and unwind with the warm water hitting my face. I sometimes catch myself just standing there not wanting to get out because it’s back to reality the minute I open that shower door back up! So while I’m in there, I try to make it the most enjoyable experience I can create for myself daily. This means using bath products that will delight the senses while I mentally escape for a bit. Lucky for me, brands like Hempz create just about everything I need to turn my bathroom into a tropical oasis fit for bathing.
I have been a long-time fan of Hempz. Fun fact here: I will never forget my first job out of college as a cosmetics chemist learning how to formulate and a bottle of hempz sat in my lab as an example of great lotion. I tried to model different products from it, whether by fragrance or feel, but over 15 years ago, I remember my affection for Hempz began.
Fast-forward to today and my love for their products has grown along with their family of offerings. The original scent will always be #1 for me, but I finally decided to branch out a bit this year and try some of their other amazing fragrance blends. With it being Summer, I’m deep into tropical or juicy, fruity scents. They’re fun and uplifting and always gather a compliment from my husband when I sit down next to him. Right now, I’m really into Sweet Pineapple and Honey Melon, Sugarcane & Papaya, and Fresh Coconut & Watermelon which I am sharing with you guys today.
P.S If you aren’t into tropical scents they carry all kinds like aromatherapy-based, floral or earthy options are also vailable — even fragrance-free. All of their products include THC-free Hemp seed oil, and are vegan and cruelty-free. Hemp seed oil was chosen as their key ingredient for a few reasons. For one, hemp is a sustainable product, and it’s oil is noncomedogenic so you don’t need to worry about clogged pores. It’s also high in omegas which can reduce inflammation, and can soothe and hydrate the skin.
My showers usually start with a shampoo first and then I move on to body wash next. Hempz Herbal Body Wash is exactly what I look for in a body wash. It’s easy to dispense in a squeeze tube, it smells terrific, and gently cleanses with lots of suds. So as I wash the day away, I can dream about being at a tropical luau with a drink in my hand. The body wash includes pure hemp seed oil, coconut oil, and avocado extract to lock in moisture, while watermelon hydrates the skin. Something I need since I tend to run hotter showers. I think there’s no better way to feel the skin rejuvenated than by a proper exfoliation. My skin feels smoother afterward and absorbs moisturizer way better. It just maybe my favorite part of bathing, aside from when you first rinse conditioner out of your hair and it’s at level 1000 sleekness. The Fresh Coconut Watermelon Sugar Body Scrub does an amazing job of polishing my legs to feel as smooth as silk. I always prefer sugar over salt scrubs because if I have a cut or a scrape salt stings and why would I do that to myself? Hempz scrub uses sugar and glycerin to attract moisture to the skin, while hemp seed oil moisturizes and treats the skin to vitamin E and antioxidants which promote healthier-looking skin. The scrub is thick and sugary, making it easy to manage in the shower. I also totally wouldn’t mind this being available in a larger foil pouch with a plastic spout — just so it can easily be squished into my shower caddy and save space. (find it at ULTA)
After I step out of the shower and pat my skin dry, I follow immediately with one of my favorite lotions which is Hempz Herbal Body Moisturizer. This lotion absorbs incredibly well, and we LOVE using this for after the pool too. We also keep a pump bottle on our kitchen island because the entire family put some extra on throughout the day. I never have to worry about this lotion feeling heavy at all, even in the thick of high Summer heat, and absolutely love the scent it leaves behind. This particular scent uses Watermelon extract which contains electrolytes (like potassium) that can help further hydrate the skin, and musk melon is rich in vitamin C, a potent antioxidant and skin supporting vitamin. (find it at Ulta). The scent is on the sweet side which I don’t mind at all. More watermelon candy than coconut.
