Colorescience frequently shows up on my blog because it truly is one the best skincare and sunscreen brands that I have worked with in the past few years. Whew. Can you tell how I really feel about them? Lol. Well, it’s true! I really haven’t had a bad experience with anything I use from them, and now I’ve had the opportunity to try their latest product release, Colorescience Total Eye Firm & Repair Cream.
I’ve used a few products from the Total Eye Family; like their 3-in-1 concealer/ SPF eye treatment, the concentrate serum, as well as their eye patches, so a cream I can use overnight is a welcome addition to keeping my eyes looking their best.
What’s inside the cream
So what’s special about Total Eye Firm & Repair Cream? Colorescience formulated this cream with their Total Eye® Complex to supply humectants to trap moisture in, antioxidants to help fight further damage, peptides to treat fine lines, and caffeine to wake up and tighten the delicate skin surrounding the eye.
The Total Eye® Complex hydrates the eye area with the help of plant-based Hyaluronic Acid and betaine (a gentle skin hydrator with an EWG rating: 1).
To improve firmness, seawater, and marine microalgae plump the area for a smoother, less wrinkly appearance. Algae-based polysaccharides also play a role in reducing puffiness which can make us look tired and older.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 addresses skin texture and boosts collagen production to improve firmness and elasticity with consistent use. Caffeine enhances circulation and also helps with reducing puffiness.
To generalize, this is very hydrating, rich in antioxidant sources, and there are a handful of algae-based ingredients that help with multiple aging issues.
Initial Thoughts
When I first tried this product, the first thing that came to mind is how balmy this feels. Smooth, comforting, and occlusive without feeling heavy. A half pump should be enough for both eyes (under eye and eyelids) and I like to put it on before I apply Differin because it helps prevent excessive dryness around my eyes. I was started to get a dry patch above one of my eyes even though I don’t apply Differin directly there, and it now has gone away since I’ve been applying this eye cream first.
This product is synthetic fragrance-free. I smell nothing while using it, but the website states that if you do in fact smell anything it is not an added fragrance and comes from the botanicals used in the product. It absorbs well and plays nicely with other products I use at night time.
My biggest goof and discovery 2 weeks into using this was that it was supposed to be used both AM and PM and I messed up and only used it in the PM. Oops! So as I continue to use this, I will apply both day and night for maximum results. What makes me happy is that it addressed the ugly dry patch above my eye with only the PM application.
My eyes haven’t become a decade younger in two weeks but good things can take time, and I’m willing to invest in using the product regularly to see the results. I have fine lines and hooded lids so anything that firms the eyelid area will be great before time really takes its toll on my eyes.
I’ll continue to update you guys on this product on my Instagram, so be sure you are following me over there! I post more frequently there than on here.
Colorescience Total Eye Firm & Repair Cream is not available in all the usual places as of yet, but you can purchase on their site as well as lovelyskin.com
I’m an eye cream fiend so this product from Colorescience is definitely of interest to me. BTW, what is Differin??
Differin Gel (adapalene 0.1%) its used for acne, but I’m using it for fine lines and texture. It’s a retinoid.
The balmy feel sounds really nice to me! This definitely sounds like an eye cream that I would like!
I’m an eye cream ho and now you’re making me crave this one.
