I love finding new complexion products and get so excited when I see brands that I usually reach for add something to their lineup. But sometimes, we find a gem in an unsuspecting place that needs to be shared. Confession time –I’ve been shopping at Sephora for years. It’s been over two decades of walking through their stores and scanning everything online and I don’t think I ever bothered with the house brand, Sephora.
I’m not sure why, but it might be because I’m usually set on buying a specific thing I’ve researched prior to hitting the store, or maybe I never really see those products advertised anywhere. I follow them on social media, but can’t say the last time I looked at their page, and emails are always catered to what you are already looking at.
But at the beginning of Summer, I had a request for more lightweight foundations or tinted moisturizers so I ventured out a bit and tried a couple to see how they were. I gave Tower 28 SunnyDays a try and loved it! You can read about that here. I also purchased Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint and it never made it to the blog because I was unsure if I liked the finish or the applicator. Still deciding if it’s worth writing about.
But today, I want to share my unsuspecting winner, which is Sephora Brand Clean Glowing Skin Foundation.
The Quick Details
The quick details on this foundation are that it is vegan, cruelty-free, “clean at Sephora” product, and fragrance-free. The foundation is available in 20 shades that range from fair to dark and undertones ranging from neutral, pink, yellow, golden, brown, red and peach to work for a variety of skin tones. It is designed for normal to dry skin types.
The finish is described as radiant and I agree. It definitely gives you that moisturized/ glowy look that catches light and shows a bit of sheen. You guys know I love that and I feel it gives my skin a really healthy look.
How I Use It
I can wear this foundation pretty thin, almost like a tinted moisturizer if I choose, but I generally do two layers so that most discolorations or imperfections are masked mostly. I’ve had really good success with both foundation brushes I use, one being the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Smoothing foundation brush (also at ULTA), and a new one, BK Beauty 101 Contoured Foundation Brush which has a slightly bigger head and has felt extra soft on the skin. I always like to follow with a damp blender sponge to allow the product to melt into the skin a bit more.
I’ve seen a few people complain about oxidation after about an hour or so, but I’ve never noticed it on myself. I’m wearing it today as I type this and have checked the last two hours and don’t see a change in the color or finish. But something to keep in mind if you find that to be an issue for you with other products.
The Packaging
The foundation is housed in a flat squeezy tube which I really like. There is nothing to break, you can see how much product is left in the tube, and it dispenses the product well directly onto the skin. It’s thick enough that I can draw a line on each cheek and my forehead and buff it out without anything dripping down my face or making things really messy. I also want to note that it has played nicely with a variety of sunscreens I wear underneath as a primer.
There are some skincare benefits to this foundation which is always an added bonus. Vitamin C (from potatoes, lol) has skin brightening properties while matcha tea powder boosts hydration levels.
My Final Thoughts
I do like how this foundation wears through the day and think it’s worthy of more love. I still have an even finish with a little glow and sheen till the very end of the day without any reapplication — I’m simply too lazy to reapply anything during the day unless it’s lip gloss or lipstick.
At $20 I find this a great affordable find that actually lasts the day for me! You can grab yours here!
I’d say you found a winner! The Sephora foundation looks beautiful on you, and it’s an excellent shade match too
This sounds great! I am a tinted moisturizer kind-of-girl, and this looks so great on you that I might just have to try it! Thank you for sharing it, Claudia!
Hi, Claudia – I’m the same about store-brand skin products: I don’t hear about the benefits anywhere, so I just pass them right by. This is a great find! It goes to show that store brands can be made in a quality to compete with the best. Thanks for sharing a needed summer cosmetic discovery – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
I love how it it looks on you!
That is so pretty! I have some discoloration due to acne scars so I think this may be a good option!
