Saltair KP Body Smoother Glycolic Body Scrub

saltair kp body smoother body scrub review by iliketotalkblog

I’ll start with the fact that I think the brand Saltair is absolutely killing it with its releases. I’ve really taken to the brand because the products have been amazing thus far, and I love that the brand makes an effort to remain sustainable and conscious of the environmental impact it can have on us. They just came out with two new products in the last few weeks and I’ve been using them ever since. Each deserves its own post so I’ll start with the KP Body Smoother body scrub.

Now, the scrub specifies that it’s designed to address keratosis pilaris (chicken skin bumps), but I can tell you that I don’t have KP but use this just fine! Saltair KP Body Smoother can be used on all skin types — even those with sensitive or reactive skin which is pretty impressive.

The Ingredients

The scrub uses both physical and chemical exfoliants for the best smoothing results. 5% glycolic is enough to do some work without irritation and then it’s coupled with volcanic sand and microcrystalline cellulose (plant/vegetable fibers) to slough, lift, and remove dry, dead skin.

It has no fragrance to it, but it is loaded with moisturizing ingredients to keep the skin supple and happy, like kukui nut, coconut, and macadamia seed oil. And to make it a scrub that’s one notch above the rest, they included actives like niacinamide and licorice root to refine tone and brighten the skin. The final formula is vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

The Packaging

It doesn’t stop there though — oh no. I told you Saltair cares about the environment and that’s evident in their packaging. The scrub is housed in a tube made from sustainable bio-resin that’s derived from sugarcane. I think that’s pretty cool!

I’ve been using Saltair’s scrub for probably 3-4 weeks now and have enjoyed it thoroughly. I would love if this was fragranced like the other products, but I’ll survive without it. Definitely not a deal breaker as I can enjoy the scents in body wash, body lotion, and deodorant.

A Comparison

The scrub is a thick paste which makes it easy to work with. If I had to compare it to some similar products Id say that this stays together better than Drunk Elephant’s Sugared Koffee Almond Milk Scrub (that just falls apart in your hands onto the floor), and less course than First Aid Beauty’s KP Bump Eraser Scrub (which has more glycolic and a more scrubby texture to it). The same goes for Kopari’s KP scrub. Kopari’s is more coarse which a higher percentage of glycolic in it. Also…Saltair’s is about half the price of most of these. Make note of that!

I should say that I use ALL of those products and each serves it’s purpose for me when I use it. None are bad — just different!

I do think with the lower glycolic percentage of the Saltair product, it makes it accessible to more people. Some of the other scrubs mentioned are pretty strong and not meant to be used daily.  You should be using some sunscreen if using these since the AHA’s in it will make our skin more sun sensitive (I have had no issues)

Where To Shop

Personally, I think this scrub is a serious winner. I’ll still continue to use all my scrubs, but this brand has really found a place in my heart that has a hold on me lately. Is there a product or brand that you feel you are hooked on?

Saltair can be purchased directly on their site, and is also on Amazon!

  1. Whenever you talk about products from Saltair, it takes me back to my days renting summer houses on Fire Island in New York. Saltair was one of the little “towns” on the tiny island. I used to think that Saltair was where all the dentists had their summer homes, lol. This scrub from Saltair sounds like a winner!
