Are you in the market for a new eye cream? Or considering starting up with one? There are two schools of thought; one is that eye creams are glorified face moisturizers and don’t bother. Then there are the others, who feel eye creams are designed specifically for the delicate eye area, and have ingredients targeted toward specific issues without eyes. I believe eye creams are helpful and have come to use them more regularly in the past five years or so.
Some of my previous favorites have been one from Strivectin, another from Obagi, and this one from Biossance. But now my beloved Farmacy Beauty has come out with an eye cream of their own and I was excited about it!
I use almost everything in Farmacy’s honey-based line which is meant to lock in moisture and create a glow. The moisturizers, the oils, the serums, and body treatments — all of them, except the face cleanser! So it’s clearly a line that I love and works for my normal to dry (sensitive at times) skin.
Wake Up Honey Eye Cream was released at the beginning of 2023. It claims to brighten the eye area by depuffing, and hydrating the eye area, reducing the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.
The formula uses tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate ( a stable and antioxidant-rich form of vitamin C) to brighten, while encapsulated caffeine offers depuffing benefits. They also included upcycled cranberry peptides to further help with the appearance of fine lines by smoothing them out.
Hyaluronic acid and Honey work together to infuse moisture and lock it in. There is no fragrance in this eye cream.
I have dark under circles, not the worst, but they are always there. I frequently deal with puffiness in the morning, but really the dark circles are what bother me the most.
The texture of this cream is thin and lightweight feeling although it’s described as a pretty potent formula. It’s stiff in the hexagonal jar, but absorbs quickly under the warmth of the skin.
I’ve been using this eye cream for about a month or so ( it was sent to me before public release) and I do enjoy how it works for me. Although, I want to keep it real. I don’t notice a dramatic difference in under eye circles. They are still there.
However…that doesn’t mean this product is a loss for me. I’ve come to accept that my dark circles are here to stay unless I do something like filler. It’s an extremely thin-skinned area that will have a shadow all the time.
What I do like about this product is the instant illumination it offers while wearing it. The best way to describe the finish of this is that it’s slightly “wet” on the skin. The skin looks moisturized and reflects light better than when it’s fully dry. And that light reflection does minimize the appearance of dark circles for me slightly.
At the same time. It dries down enough to not interfere with makeup application. My concealers apply nicely, and more importantly, aren’t creasing up any more than usual when wearing this eye cream.
And puffiness seems to go away by the time I move onto my makeup steps in my morning routine.
Vitamin C in an eye product used to not make sense to me. I was only thinking of how vitamin C can even skin tone, but completely forgot the fact that it can help with firming the skin by helping promote collagen production. It’s also an antioxidant that fights free radical damage which creates those wrinkles and fine lines — so it’s a great ingredient to use all around!
I’m going to keep using it along with the other eye creams that I rotate between (all listed above). The price tag is on par in the range that I would be willing to spend at $48 for a 0.5 oz jar, but I do wish it had more power on my dark circles. The illumination, hydration and depuffing all work for me.
I love the Farmacy Beauty brand, and really do use a lot of their products when I scan their site.
