It’s been a few years since I’ve used Osea, but I do remember enjoying a roller ball serum for them when I was a writer for the cruelty-free blog, My Beauty Bunny. Back then, I was intrigued by their sophisticated, yet natural approach to skincare. I had just had a baby and I wanted products I used to be cleaner with less questionable ingredients. Fast forward to today, and I am still slowly swapping out one product for another when I find something that better aligns with what I’m looking for.
Osea has a mission to create seaweed-infused skincare. Why seaweed you may wonder? Because it’s chock full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that nourish our skin while remaining vegan and cruelty-free. Osea essentially has been an OG brand in the Clean Beauty category, and I love that their products and formulas are tested and clinically validated for their efficacy.
Osea is also climate-neutral certified. Their product packaging and outer packaging show a true desire to be sustainable by using glass where possible, PCR plastics where there can, and less virgin paper and cardboard packaging.
In recent months, Osea has thankfully come back into my life and I got a handful of goodies to test and refresh my memory with. I’ve slowly incorporated some into my routines to see if they still worked well for me, and of course, they did. So I want to share my top three product picks from this clean and sustainable brand because they deserve some extra love.
Hyaluronic Sea Serum
Available at Osea and Credo Beauty
One product that is always in my skincare routine day or night is using a hyaluronic acid serum. Gotta have it. My skin has always loved the added dose of moisture before moving on to moisturizers or makeup.
I love that this one has a jelly-like texture so it doesn’t slip through your fingers. It has two forms of HA in it, along with seaweed and snow mushroom to help the skin maintain proper hydration levels. If there is one thing I believe about skincare is that properly hydrated and moisturized skin will always look the healthiest, hands down. You can have spots and wrinkles but if your skin looks dry it looks sullen or dull. Perk up that skin with something like this serum and then make sure to seal it in with your favorite moisturizer.
Ocean Cleanser
Available at Osea and Credo Beauty
If you’re looking for a gentle cleanser made for normal, dry or combo-type skin, then I found one for you! Osea’s Ocean Cleanser is a mineral gel cleanser which I would describe closer to a cream cleanser. Osea described this cleanser as purifying and exfoliating but it feels so gentle on the skin so I’m surprised!
Minerals help maintain normal skin function and help with things like supporting skin immunity, helping protect against free radicals damage, and everyday skin functions like preventing water loss, cell communication, and collagen production.
The Ocean Cleanser uses lactic acid as an exfoliator, keeping it really gentle, while glycerin and a unique blend of oils keep skin balanced and hydrated. My skin never feels tight or irritated by this cleanser and it doesn’t foam up at all. I find that it removes all my makeup reasonably if I massage it with water into the skin like I would a cleansing balm (maybe not my beautycounter mascara 100% but nothing does!) and I like the natural refreshing citrus scent! My skin feels smooth after cleansing and it makes me want to touch my face! If you need something for more oily or acne-prone skin, try this one instead.
Undaria Algae Body Butter
Available at Osea and Credo Beauty
Rich. Divine. Next Level. Those are the first three things that come to mind when I think of Osea’s Undaria Algae Body Butter. I love skimming the top of this cream and applying everywhere from the neck down right after my shower. It smells like oranges without being overpowering and doesn’t make me leave grease prints everywhere I go.
This body butter has Undaria seaweed, shea butter, and ceramides to deeply moisturize and lock it all in. On extra dry days, I add a few drops of their Undaria Body Oil to add a but more moisture since I live in the desert.
I could easily use this year-round, just in the Summer I’d use less. But living in such a dry climate means I need to help my skin maintain moisture levels as much as possible!
There are so many more products from Osea that I’d like to try out and share with you guys. I’m hoping I can do that for you! Have you given any of these a try? Let m know in the comments below if there is something I should try from them that’s a must!
