NewBeauty TestTube #25

I’ve been a long-time subscriber of NewBeauty‘s TestTube for a few years now and have always enjoyed what I’ve received. The beauty sampling program includes a copy of their latest magazine along with a wide assortment of luxury samples or full size products to try out all sent to your home. The magazine is full of information on everything from skincare, haircare, to other beauty enhancements such as plastic surgery and injectibles. It’s where I learned of my favorite sunscreen (Skinceuticals Sheer Physical Defense SPF 50, My favorite hair straightening serum (Phyto hair relaxing balm) and a great mascara (Mally). And just so happens to feature a face makeup I use too, Miracle Skin Transformer. So you can understand why I always look forward to whats inside. Let’s move on to what I got!

Lets

start with Kneipp’s Pure Bliss Mineral Bath Salt in Red Poppy & Hemp. It would be great if I had an giant tub to relax and soak in but I don’t, darnit. For those of you who can treat yourself to a hot bath once in a while, I suggest you look into this one. Based on years of research on the benefits of botanicals and hydrotherapy, Kneipp created their mineral bath salts that activate with warm water to bring you a sense of relaxation and well-being. After reading the reviews on the NewBeauty TestTube site, it looks like everyone commenting was going to purchase it after finishing their samples. It also sounds like these salt soaks tint the water for a different experience. I wonder if it stains? You can purchase a 17oz jar that will give you enough for 8-10 baths for $19 on their site.

carrying on…..

I’ve noticed Olay‘s new professional line of products but haven’t used them. Their Deep Wrinkle Treatment is designed to increase collagen production by improving hydration levels in the skin. The key ingredients are retinyl propionate, and niacinamide (vitamin b3), both well known for their wrinkle fighting abilities, and also responsible for making it crucial to use sunscreen while using products in the Vitamin A or Niacin which make skin more sensitive to the sun. You need to wear sunscreen anyways, but definitely don’t skip if you are using products like these. This 1.0 fl oz tube retails anywhere from $37 to $45 from what I’ve seen online and will probably end up being a giveaway since I won’t be using this myself. Its FULL-SIZED as far as I can tell! Any takers?

Next on the list is Cellceuticals CellGenesis Eye Serum. Using retinoids which come from the Vitamin A family, CellGenesis has a unique Tri-Retinoid peptide complex that stimulates repair without irritation often associated with retinol products. Their website says this treatment will help with under-eye puffiness, diminish dark circles and minimize wrinkles when used daily. I love that we got a FULL-SIZED product here!!! That means you can give this a really good amount of time to see what it can really do. The product looks like orange juice mix when it come out, but doesn’t stain your skin orange. I suspect when I start using this product it will last quite some time since a little goes a long way. This 0.5 fl ox tube retails for $65 on their site.

I have never heard of the brand YonKa before, which turns out to be a French, family based company. Their line is based on research on the benefits of phyto-aromatherapy and the use of plant based essential oils to improve the skin and well being. The product that I received is their Phyto 58 Rejuvenation Treatment Cream, a night cream that promises to refine the skin while erasing signs of fatigue and brightening the complexion. Rosemary extract invigorates the senses, while the brands popular quintessence blend of essential oils energizes and detoxifies the skin. Vitamin E, A and F repair the skin and shield it from losing hydration. This cream is suitable to fight the first signs of aging on normal to oily skin. I’m pretty happy with my own skincare routine so I’m not sure that I will be using this myself, but appears to be another FULL-SIZED product that I will be able to give someone else to enjoy.

MoroccanOil was also included in this edition of the TestTube, and it usually is. I can’t remember the last time I needed to buy a MoroccanOil product because they give huge samples (sometimes full-sized) all the time! This here is their Intense Hydrating Mask for dry and damaged hair. The scent is similar in all their products, and while I haven’t used this yet, I know I definitely will in the near future. I’d like to see how well this works for my hair. Some masks are too heavy and leave my hair frizzy instead of sleek and shiny. I’ve been pleased with everything from the brand so far from hair to body stuff (their body souffle cream being my #1 favorite item). More than likely I will update results on my facebook page. Their line is famous for its use of Moroccan Argan Oil to nourish and strengthen the hair and skin.

I actually used to use Philosophy’s hope in a jar before, and was glad to have a sample size of this basic moisturizer to keep in my bag when I feel like I’m drying out. The texture is light, and marshmallow-like. I never remember having any breakout issues from this cream, only really enjoying the “feel” of the cream. I suggest trying this out out if you can. If you take a look at Philosophy‘s moisturizers the have a different kind for each skin type. The instant refresher moisturizer mask is good too, I’ve tried that one and liked it. You can get this in different sizes ranging from $15 (0.5oz) to $110 (8oz) on their website.

It Cosmetics is totally new to me also, but impressed me at first use. This Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Under Eye Concealer really conceals and the neutral medium color they sent me did blend well with my skin tone and makeup I use (Miracle Skin Transformer). My only negative is that I feel like I’m pulling at my eye skin when applying it because it’s waterproof & budge-proof. it’s even supposed to cover bruising if you have any from surgeries or accidents. The formula is moisturizing and contains high levels of vitamins K, A, C, E and Collagen, which are clinically proven to reduce puffiness and discoloration. This came as a sample size but expect this tube to last quite a long time since much isn’t needed at all when you blend it. A full sized tube will cost you $24 on their site.

Dr. Brandt has been a familiar brand with the TestTube‘s I’ve gotten in the past. He has a microdermabrasion product that feels really nice to use. In this recent edition, I got the Dark Circles Away Collagen Eye Serum. This brightening serum absorbs quickly and leaves the eye area slightly illuminated to combat dark circles. The milky liquid serum decreases the look of tired eyes by stimulating microcirculation, breaking down fatty deposits that contribute to under eye bags, and increases collagen levels while strengthening the skin. You can purchase this product full sized at $55.

Last to share are the spalook.com giftcards. They do give a good amount off but I have yet to use one. After looking at the website I have no idea why I haven’t used one yet. They have a ton of brands! And pages of deals so hopefully I’ll be able to put at least one of these to good use before they expire.
