NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil

Matte Lipsticks without the dry, chapped lip look is what we’ve all been searching for since the trend popped up once again — and NUDESTIX hit the mark with their Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils . If you aren’t familiar with the brand, it’s time to get acquainted with this easy to use, cruelty-free brand that makes makeup so simple and fun with it’s multi purpose pencils for eyes, lips and face.

NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils come in eight waterproof (and kiss proof colors) that go on like velvet and claim to last up to 6 hours without fading. They all come in their cute, on-the-go mirrored tin that stores a couple of pencils in your purse or bag for easy touch ups.

As with most matte lip colors, it’s recommended to buff your lips before applying so you get a smooth, long-lasting look so I made sure to gently exfoliate with some shea butter and a toothbrush so they were prepped and ready for color. Before coloring in my lips, I primed them with NUDESTIX’s Blur Pencil, a multi-tasking pencil that minimizes pores, fine lines, and prevents feathering of color on the lips. This invisible pencil uses Hyaluronic acid spheres penetrate the skin and plump while Vitamin C and E soothe — all things my lips could appreciate.(Along with my forehead which has some lines I’d like to hide)

I was able to try two colors from the Intense Lip + Cheek line, Belle (listed as a plum nude but leans toward a peachy color for me) and Raven ( described as a deep red on the Sephora site, but best described as a wine red on my lips).

I found the blur pencil allowed me to easily switch between colors without staining the lips and allowed the color to apply smoothly.  The lip pencils went on like velvet, no tugging or pulling and didn’t zap the moisture from my already chapped-prone lips. I did not test the pencils as cheek color because I prefer a pressed powder for that and I would be afraid of not blending the pencil properly on my cheeks.

You can find NUDESTIX products available at Sephora and online at  Each Intense Matte Lip +Cheek pencil retails for $24 each which is reasonable when you account for its multipurpose abilities as well as how long the product lasts. Kevyn Aucoin Matte Lip Color Resilient

There is nothing like a bold lipstick to really finish off a look is there?  It’s just hot! And if I’m going to go bold, it’s usually with a bright pink of sorts because it just brightens my complexion overall. Feast your eyes on Kevyn Aucoin Matte Lip Color in Resilient.  Resilient is a very bright fuschia that just glides on with ease.  Talk about whoa on the lips!

Although I cannot usually wear matte lip colors because my lips dry out almost immediately, Kevin Aucoin managed to make a creamy matte formula that doesn’t suck the moisture out. It is even said to remove lip lines and wrinkles if used for 30 days straight. Quite a claim for a matte lipstick and not sure I could pull off wearing this for a month straight, but pretty cool accomplishment if it can do that. The formula is packed with emollient esters that lock moisture in and keep lips supple. Look at the picture below. Does that look dry at all to you? No!

The color pay out is phenomenal, and it takes only one stroke to get full color payout. I really, really love this lipstick and would love to test it out in some of the more muted shades like For Keeps (Medium Peach) and Enduring (Cool Nude).  I am not one to reapply lipstick over and over through the day and this lasted me a few hours even through a cup of coffee.

The packaging is sleek and sturdy and has some weight to it making it feel luxe.  And the cap closes tightly resisting the chance of slipping off in your purse and destroying it’s insides. At $33 bucks a pop I would hope for sturdy packaging and an amazing formula for a lipstick.

I haven’t tried any other products from Kevyn Aucoin but would be interested in checking out his foundation and blush brushes, those look super soft and I am in serious need of new brushes. I remember owning one of his makeup books, Making Faces, many, many years ago and admiring his work as a teen…wishing I could apply my own makeup so beautifully as the people displayed in the book. Ahh the artistry!  Still working on that myself, haha.

P.S I could not find resilient on Kevin Aucoin’s website but it is listed on Barneys if you are interested in purchasing!
