Healthy Lemonades from Sour Lemon Beverage Co

There is something extra tasty about a tart, refreshing lemonade, but some out there are so full of sugar that it would make your head spin. My husband is a diabetic so as much as we love a full flavor “real” lemonade it’s not happening in this house. He gets the light version at the store so he can enjoy, but who knew there was a lemonade made from apple cider vinegar!  I have to admit that when I first heard of the Sour Lemon Beverage Co, I was a bit doubtful if something ACV-based could make an enjoyable drink. I mean, I don’t mind the taste and smell of ACV — but a whole drink?

I was sent their sampler box which included each of the seven flavors they carry. Each 2oz bottle can be mixed with approximately 14 oz of water to make a flavored lemonade — all without artificial flavors, colors, or additives.

So what’s in this stuff? It will vary from flavor to flavor, slightly, but in general, each flavor includes raw apple cider vinegar, cold-pressed lemon juice, and stevia  — all organic and then something specific to the flavor and benefit you chose.

Flavors:

  • Pink Lemonade – Beet Root Powder supports cardiovascular health.
  • Blueberry Lemonade – Blue spirulina, considered a superfood.
  • Elderberry Lemonade – Elderberry works as an immunity booster and superfood.
  • Activated Charcoal Orange – Activated charcoal for detoxification.
  • Cherry Limeade – Tart cherry juice is an anti-inflammatory and an immunity booster.
  • Limeade – Contains Spirulina, which has minerals and vitamins A, C, E, and B
  • Spiced Cider – Contains carrot juice and spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
  • Beach Please – Pineapple and Turmeric which has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits.

So you’re probably wondering why people drink apple cider vinegar at all. I mean, something with vinegar in it isn’t what comes to mind when people are thirsty, but it is something that has been praised for a variety of health benefits. For one, it’s rich in B-vitamins and polyphenols (plant-based antioxidants), and prebiotics! Some of the things ACV is thought to do is help kill Candida (a type of fungal infection), reduce inflammation in the body, as well as helping the digestion process.

Upon their arrival, I stored them all in my fridge to sample on different days. I found that these worked best when given a good shake to mix and then poured over a tall glass of water with ice.

I think the thing that surprised me the most was that while I could detect the scent of ACV in some of the flavors, you dont actually taste it at all! My favorite flavor was the Blueberry Lemonade. I do wish the set included the Cherry Limeade flavor that I see on their site since I love cherry flavored things, but the Limeade was quite tasty to. I thought I would love Beach Please the most but didnt, and that’s fine. Everyone is going to have one they love and one they dont. Definitely give it a try with ice cold water, I don’t think warmer water does the flavors justice. And I believe drinking it right after being prepared was better than when I stuck the rest in the fridge to finish later on in the day.

The Sour Lemon Beverage Co. is fairly new so they are available in some brick and mortar locations central to where it was created in Kansas but can be found at their online store for ordering. I suggest trying the sampler so you can have fun figuring out which flavor is your favorite and possibly move onto the larger bottles after!

  1. My doctor is always telling me I have to drink more water so this would be a great way to do it. I like water ice cold and this sounds like it’s better ice cold.
