Getting On Track During National Nutrition Month

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx

How often is health on your mind? I think because I have a kid it’s become something super important to me, one, so I can stick around for a long time, and two to set a good example for my little one. I think a good approach to healthy living includes getting in some exercise, finding a good way to destress whether it be with a hobby, or alone time, sleep that replenishes the body, Routine checkups, and last but not least the foods we put in our body. Out of all the things that I do to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I will admit that nutrition is one that I struggle with from time to time, because well, hormones, Christmas cookies and licorice. How can I resist?!

With that said, I think there is a fine balance we all need to find when it comes to food. I think we can all agree we all need to eat healthy, but there is no reason to completely avoid an indulgent treat — it’s just a matter of where we draw the line. I find that balance in counting macros (protein, carbs, and fats) which has taught me to look at the overall picture of how I fuel my body.  This week is the start of the Crossfit Open which means I have been taking a closer look at my nutrition and making better choices where I can so I can perform better in the gym. Better late than never, right? This also happens to coincide with National Nutrition Month so what better time to share some things that help jumpstart a good approach to healthy eating.

BRAGG Apple Cider Vinegar Refreshers

You’ve probably heard of probiotics, but do you know what prebiotics are? Probiotics are the good bacteria that we need in our bodies to stay healthy, while prebiotics FEED the probiotics in our gut. Gut health is so important because it does not only help with digestion but can also help avoid certain illnesses and build our immunity. You can get these two things in a few ways, but BRAGG came out with some really delicious drinks that give your body the prebiotics it thrives on! BRAGG Apple Cider Vinegar Refreshers come in six flavors that include a blend of carefully selected fruit juices, teas and spices along with 2 tbsp of their unfiltered raw apple cider vinegar in each bottle for a healthy alternative to plain ol’ water. If you’re wondering how an ACV drink taste likes, let me tell you, it’s not what you think! I would describe some slight tanginess, like how you would describe a flavored lemonade! I could easily drink more than one a day of the Honey & Green Tea flavor — that’s how much I enjoy them! Want to give them a try yourself? You can visit bragg.com to see where BRAGG ACV Refreshers are sold near you!

Veestro Meal Delivery Service

With my busy schedule, I sometimes find myself running out of time to plan ahead for a meal. Veestro Meal Delivery service has saved my tush on those occasions where I didn’t have time to prep anything and I was STARVING. While there is always the temptation to run out and grab fast food, I remember that I have these meals that will only take minutes to heat up in the comfort of my own home! What is most surprising to me is how delicious these pre-made frozen meals are and that they are vegan! Guys, I’m not vegan, but I can tell you that my picky five-year-old and myself have to negotiate on who gets the last Chik’n nugget in one of these meals! Veestro turned a leaf for me on how yummy a 100% plant-based meal can be! With over fifty menu items to choose from and the ability to have them delivered right to my front door makes things uber convenient.  Save yourself the headache and hangriness by checking them out with my 25% discount at www.veestro.com (USE CODE: BABBLE25   – valid until Mar 31st so don’t wait!)

Snack on Chomps Meat Sticks

Are you a snacker like me? I can’t live on three square meals a day, I definitely need snacks to keep my energy up and my attitude in check. I often try to rely on protein-based snacks where I can since they tend to keep me satiated longer and one of my favorite things to eat are beef jerky sticks! Chomps meat sticks are perfect for throwing in my gym bag or in the car if I’m running around doing errands, and I like that they are made with high-quality meats like beef, turkey, and venison with no added sugar or nitrates. My daughter even loves to steal a bite or two when she catches me with one! They have about 10g of protein per serving, and certified paleo if that’s your thing! If you’re a fan of meat snacks and want to give these a try, click here and use code: BABBLE20 for a sweet discount that’s valid until 3/31/21.

Eat This Book by Running Press

Feel like you need a little more guidance on where to really start in improving your nutrition? Eat This Book is a great place to start for some fun and interesting tidbits on the usual and unusual foods we eat. Even though I have put serious thought into what I eat for the past few years, I myself even run out of ideas at times and struggle to think of new, interesting things to eat that I won’t get tired of. Sometimes, even the slightest adjustment to your usual favorite foods can produce a new meal for you to fall in love with, and the author, Stacy Michelson does a great job of getting the wheels turning with this illustrated food book! You can purchase a copy here

I hope these tidbits help you out! For me, it has taken years of reeducating and remodeling behaviors for a healthier lifestyle. Don’t expect things to happen overnight! It takes time to settle into something sustainable that works for you.

  1. I’ve tried the Bragg apple cider vinegar, but I didn’t know they had drinks now. That book is just too adorable!
