Pixi Pretties Palette Review and Swatches

The Pixi Pretties Collection always gets me excited because there are usually some items that I hold onto for years. The last one, I believe had glowy powders that look beautiful as a blush topper and eye shadow make me want to paint my entire face in it’s reflective goodness. This year, the collection includes four palettes that can be used to create a complete look for eyes, cheeks and lips, all curated by beauty bloggers and makeup artists known for their exceptional talents.

Swatch photos below were all prepped using First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer and photographed outside when it was slightly overcast. Without further ado, let’s dive in and see what these palettes offer!

PIXI + Tina Young Tones & Textures Eyeshadow Palette

With 25 shades in both matte and shimmer metallic shades, Tina aimed to create a palette that could be versatile enough for day and evening looks. I find most of the shades were quite silky to the touch when I finger swatched, and produced pigmented stripes across my arm to my satisfaction. Only two felt quite dry and dusty (the very orange color in the 4th row and the dark gray color in the 5th row), and luckily they are two shades that I probably wouldn’t reach for anyways.  I appreciate there is a nice range of neutral colors for me to work with, and some fun shades to add a pop of color as a liner since I’m not a pro at creating very colorful looks. The shadows did kick up a little bit more when I used a brush for my eyes, but nothing incredibly messy as I have experienced with some other palettes out there.

Pixi Pretties Palette Review and Swatches

PIXI + Louise Roe Cream Rouge Palette

If you like easy, multi-purpose products then this cream rouge palette may be for you. At first look, the shades seemed quite similar but swatching showed the slight nuances in shades that lifestyle blogger, Louise, was going for.  Each of the 25 creamy shades are easily picked up with a clean finger for easy tapping onto the cheeks or swiping across the lips. Tip: Be sure to have smooth, exfoliated lips before applying or it will show how dry your lips really are. I put some on and had to wipe it off and scrub a bit before trying again. The next time I applied some lip balm underneath and it looked much better. The shades range includes peachy neutrals, rosy tones, and brighter candy colors as you work down the palette. I personally will be sticking to the top 3 rows the most and probably won’t use the last row as they are too bold for my taste. I liked that these didn’t melt too much to the touch and become a messy palette, and can be applied lightly as a stain or layered for a more opaque look.

PIXI + Makeup By Denise Mind Your Own Glow Radiance Palette

I love palettes like these because I always love a little glow in my day-to-day look. This is another palette I felt was very silky to the touch and not “dry” at all. I experienced no kickup of color when I swirled and dabbed my brush in the mineral-based colors and they could apply blindingly bright when done with a bare finger. With light champagne shades to highlight the brow and nose and rosier shades for the cheeks I feel I can put this entire palette to use. Gold is a little more tricky for me and I would probably use those for a Summery eye look with a lot of mascara.

PIXI + Promise Shapeshifter Palette Contour Palette

I’ll be honest, I found this to be the most intimidating palette to use and maybe it’s because I don’t do much contouring. This palette has a very soft, silky finish to it as well, and includes both light and deep shades to carve out areas on the entire face. It played nicely with my brushes and didnt become dusty with a brush swirl. The good news is that there are some very deep tones in this palette for friends with darker complexions, but I am at a loss on how to use the light shades at all. I stuck with one shade, in the middle row all the way to the left to use as a bronzer contour and that’s it. I suppose it’s a blessing I don’t contour much because that would take more time for me to create my looks, but not a palette I will be reaching for often.

You can always find Pixi Beauty Pixi Pretties on their website, but can also find them at Target online and in some store location. The palettes range from $20-$25 each.

  1. You do such a great job on swatching. That blush palette would have taken me two days to swatch. I like that the best of all. I don’t contour so that wouldn’t work for me either.
