Pixi Beauty January 2021 Releases by iliketotalkblog

There are certain brands I have a radar for and Pixi Beauty is one of them. When they come out with something new I get very excited because I enjoy most of their skincare and makeup options which takes up a majority of my beauty cabinet! In fact, I frequently go to their website to scan for new things even though I follow their social media pages.

It was last week or so when I discovered that Pixi Beauty had come out with some new rosy additions to their makeup line that I immediately wanted to try. Pixi’s Rose Skincare line treats my skin wonderfully, especially during the colder, drier months and their rosy-toned makeup products like their Rosette Ray palette is one I reach for regularly.

+Rose Essence Oil

The new +Rose Essence Oil was something I was most excited about. A quick-absorbing tri-phase oil that nourishes, calms, and hydrates in one step! There is no doubt that I’m attracted to this product because of the beautiful pink liquids swirling around inside, but my skin also needs all of these things on a regular basis. It has a thin formula that absorbs quickly into the skin which I like, and my skin feels more hydrated and smooth immediately after application. It also didn’t interfere with makeup like my Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint or Pixi’s Illuminating Tint (no piling or separating). At $28 a bottle, this is an investment item in my opinion, but because it worked so wonderfully and you don’t need much I would consider buying this in the future when this one runs out.

+Rose Essence Oil tri-phase consists of Rose Flower oil to nourish and rejuvenate, Rose water rich in antioxidants and Ceramide NP which provides time-released moisture and strengthens the skin barrier.

+Rose Radiance Perfector

Looking to add a bit of subtle glow to your complexion? Pixi came out with their +Rose Radiance Perfector to blur, brighten and add a touch of pearlescent glow to your skin. While the liquid comes out pink it did not do anything dramatic color-wise to my the skin on my face except leave a delicate healthy glow. If you’ve tried Buxom Cosmetics Divine Luminizer that one packs more of a punch (too much for the face, imo) while this is on the subtle side. Pixi Beauty says you can wear this on its own without makeup, and I would probably do it if I felt it did have more blurring properties, although I didn’t really see that. I think this product will be more known for producing glowy looking skin. I thought this liquid applied nicely, and also worked well my makeup choices. It’s $18 for a tube and will last for quite a bit of time whether you use it all over your face or only apply to the high points.

+Rose Radiance Perfector uses rose water to balance the skin and offer antioxidants, along with Ceramides and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate.

+Rose Lip Nourisher

If your lips need a little moisture and you enjoy a sheer wash of color I think you’ll enjoy the +Rose Lip Nourisher. This one is very similar in design to their other lip brightener in their Vitamin C line. Both work great as a base for lipstick. While the Lip Brightener has a more peach tint to it, this one has a very rosy tone that produces more color on my lips and looks almost magenta on me.  To me, this is almost a sheer lipstick! The packaging is like a thin tube of lipstick giving it a more elevated look compared to a traditional balm with a short plastic cap, and the blend of jojoba oil, rosehip oil, and Vitamin E nourish and smooth the lips. A tube of the Rose Lip Nourisher runs $10 which is mid-range for me. I’m a huge sucker for lip balms, especially during the winter months when I can quickly develop chapped lips so I’m happy to add this to my collection.

H20 Skinveil

If you like to set your makeup with powder, Pixi Beauty now has a H20 Skinveil for those of us who want to give them a try but are afraid it will give your skin a dried out look.  When I first heard of a setting powder that offered hydration to the skin I was baffled by the concept. How is that possible? Powder usually dries, and I can only use it during the Summer when my face is sweatier but never during the Winter. Pixi’s H20 Skinveil blurs, cools, and hydrates with its unique formula that includes hyaluronic acid and green tea.

I prefer my skin to stay on the dewy side, but for the sake of beauty research, I thought I would give their skinveil a try in setting my concealer and just on my forehead. The first time I tried this powder I could feel a very slight cooling sensation as I buffed it on the skin but had hit or miss moments detecting the “cool” when I continued. Not a big deal to me as that isn’t what drew me to the product. I’m more interested in its hydrating properties and after a few wears I believe it’s done well in setting my concealer for all-day wear. I liked how my skin looked as I buffed it on my forehead and will need to play with it more to give you my thoughts on larger pore areas like my cheeks. The H20 Skinveil comes in two shades, translucent and Sunkissed which has a more bronzy, brown tone to it.  So far, I have only tested the translucent but would be keen to see how Sunkissed looks on me. I wish I could say I could compare this to the more pricey option from Becca Cosmetics; their Hydra-mist set & refresh powder but I’ve never tried it. But what I can tell you is that Pixi’s option is almost 2/3rds the price at $24 and sounds extremely similar not only in cooling and hydrating abilities but shade options as well. A lot of people complained that the Becca version’s cooling abilities faded over time so I am curious how this one will play out over the months to come. Will I feel the cooling sensation much more? We will see.

+Rose Glow-y Powder

I’ve owned other glow-y powders from Pixi before and loved layering them over a sheer wash of blush. The new +Rose version is a gorgeous rose color with a pink shift to it. It wouldn’t work well as a stand-alone highlighter for me but adds some dimension to my blush when used together. I do need to play around with which brush is appropriate for picking up the product to my liking, but it looks beautiful on.  If I wanted to use it as an eyeshadow, I can, but usually use a finger for maximum color payout. The added benefit of this glow-y powder is the ceramides and ferulic acid which give it extra skincare benefits as you wear it!
