I feel like you don’t hear a whole lot of raving about natural and organic type beauty brands out there simply because, well, a lot of them fall short of results. I’ve discussed this with friends before. The idea of good-for-you products made with ingredients sourced from nature is appealing, but if it does nothing for your skin or worse, leaves it in terrible condition then it’s an even harder sell for the next brand that comes along.  And then a brand like True Botanicals comes along and truly shakes things up.

I first tried True Botanicals about a month ago and wrote about their amazing anti-aging facial oil here. To recap on who True Botanicals are, they are a luxury line of vegan skincare that goes through rigorous testing to make sure they WORK! Each product is carefully formulated using potent amounts of ethically sourced ingredients making them a true knock-out natural skincare line. They are also PETA and Leaping bunny certified signifying they are a cruelty-free brand too.

After enjoying the oil so much, I was fortunate enough to try more of their products for a more well-rounded skincare routine that I’ve been following for the past couple of weeks. I want to preface that it has only been a couple of weeks, but my skin feels SO good I need to share now! I can always do a follow-up post later down the road too.

True Botanicals Nourishing Cleamns review by ilketotalkblog

The Nourishing Cleanser

One of the three products that I added to my routine is their Nourishing Cleanser for normal to dry skin (there is one for oily skin too). This is not a get-every-trace-of-mascara cleanser but more of a nourishing and skin conditioning cleanser. Use a cleansing balm first if you are wearing sunscreen or makeup.

The first time I tried it, I literally said “wow” and wondered if it was made with a pure aloe base because my skin felt so hydrated and soft to the touch. It does a fantastic job of leaving my face feeling pampered after a double cleanse using this as the second cleanse. Those who are sensitive to scents may have to avoid this one. I smell jasmine the most, but grapefruit, lavender and vetiver are blended in there too for the most gorgeous, relaxing aroma.

Fine lines and wrinkles are worked on from the very moment you massage this cleanser into the skin. Its formula includes antioxidant-rich, green and white tea, along with hydrating aloe vera and green tea seed oil which boosts hydration further. I’ve enjoyed this cleanser so much, my only wish is that the bottle was bigger. This isn’t a sudsing cleanser, more of a creamy serum-like cleanser so I’m trying to use the minimal amount for it to be effective. I hope I can make it last long!

I quickly follow with one of the many HA serums I have because I’ve always been told your skin will absorb product better when it’s hydrated and I want these serums to have the best environment to work with!

True Botanical Chebula Active Immunity Serum review by iliketotalkblog

The Ultimate Facial Serum

True Botanicals Chebula Active Immunity Serum was something I had my eye on since I first started using the facial oil. This serum sounded kind of amazing, to be honest, and I kept pulling it up on my computer willfully wishing I’d get to try it. I laugh now, because it probably sounds weird to get that excited and interested in a skincare product. But when a product description claims that it outperforms two leading anti-aging serums, you stop and take another look.

If you’re wondering what Chebula means, it’s an ayurvedic fruit filled with antioxidants and considered one of the most bioactive herbs out there. Not only does it work to reduce inflammation, but it stands out against other recommended antioxidants (like Vitamin C and E) because it can scavenge more free radicals for longer while on the skin (I learned this is called a cascading antioxidant). It also deeply moisturizes while simultaneously correcting the effects of UVA/UVB damage — not only slowing down collagen destruction but promoting collagen synthesis as well. SAY WUT?!

Are you guys catching on to why I think this serum is so magical? It’s everything my skin needs! Would you believe that I could still go on about this serum? Because I’m about to!

Aside from the magical powers of Chebula extract, True Botanicals Chebula Active Immunity Serum also contains a blend of immunity-building antioxidants like elderberry, ginger, and echinacea to strengthen the skin barrier keeping nasty environmental aggressors out.

Guys, I think this serum is one for the books. I use half a dropper morning and night and I feel like my skin is hydrated, glowy, and luminous with the help of this stuff. This is also, probably, one of the more higher-priced skincare products that I’ve tried but damn, I can see why. The investment of ingredients into this product makes it one to rave about. I will be back for this serum when my bottle runs out. By the way, I find nothing distinctive about the scent of this serum. Nothing fragrant that I can detect!

True Botanicals Repair Serum review by iliketotalkblog

The Night Time Serum

At nighttime, I follow with their Repair Serum (also known as their Repair Nightly Treatment). This serum targets uneven tone, fine lines, and dullness. The product itself is a juicy cantaloupe carrot color, and it has a similar scent to the cleanser; so it smells like jasmine when you apply, and lingers for a bit. I find that this helps my skin feel further hydrated before I follow with their facial oil or cream. I use 1-2 pumps each night after Chebula and enjoy basking in the knowledge that this serum is providing my skin with omega fatty acids, ceramides, and bioactive peptides for a smooth and hydrated look and feel.

I did learn that I was applying this totally incorrectly, yet still enjoying it! (LOL!) You are supposed to use this AFTER applying the facial oil, but it never dawned on me to do that step first. They explain it clear as day on their website that this serum is “thicker” than the facial oil –but I guess I skipped that part!

Final Thoughts on True Botanicals

I actually started this entire routine shortly after I started Differin, the over-the-counter retinoid that people use for acne. I was expecting a lot of dryness and redness immediately, but luckily my skin has remained 100% calm through the last couple of weeks. I am not using it daily yet, but I 100% believe that this skincare line helped keep my skin happier than I expected it to be. I have no dryness, no redness, no peeling, just glowy, hydrated skin.

If you can afford the splurge, I’d say try this entire line. I haven’t been disappointed and actually pretty wowed with how my skin feels. If you can only dip your toe in the water, I’d say go for the Chebula Active Immunity Serum if you’re looking for anti-aging benefits. The cleanser is so comforting, and I love the added hydration of the repair serum, but that Chebula is the star in my eyes.

I’m already looking at other things that look to be winners like their Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm and their Resurfacing Body Mask.

Did any of these things catch your eye? I think you’ll definitely be hearing more about this brand from me in the future!
